Hokko Spaces from Team17 and Wonderscope Games is a chill sandbox experience in which you’ll be working on building cozy miniature diorama-style worlds. You’ll be able to craft each one at your own pace, as you find the right spot for this or that element, all while adjusting things such as the weather, season, or time of day, so that you can capture the right vibe you’re going for.

The game will teach you the basics right away after booting up. Move the camera around with the left analog stick. You’ll be using the right analog stick to rotate your camera view. As expected, the ZL and ZR buttons will let you zoom in and out with the camera as needed. All of the items that you can add in each cozy space will be under the decoration menu, which you can open by pressing the X button.

You can add different bushes here and there, place a variety of trees, add a single mushroom – or a trio! – for a bit of extra color, place some flowers, or get spooky for the season and add an old tree with no leaves and falling branches. There’s also a variety of fruits to add, along with benches, chairs, tables, rocks, swings, fences, roads, lamps, and more.

Pressing the Y button will allow you to use the world builder, so that you can make some changes to the terrain for your space. Press the R button for the world options menu, from where you’ll get to change the weather, time of day, and even the season. What if you want to undo your last move? Then you can quickly press left on the D-Pad to easily fix things.

You’ll soon notice that new residents start to visit your creations. They will join as you complete some goals here and there. Once they arrive, you’ll get to see how they unwind and relax while interacting with the objects that you’ve placed. Press the L button to check out all of the villagers that you’ve managed to unlock. The game offers a Photo Mode you can activate by pressing up on the D-PAD, so that you can capture your favorite moments as you welcome more and more villagers.

Hokko Spaces is a chill sandbox experience in which you’ll be working on building cozy miniature diorama-style worlds. You’ll be able to craft each one at your own pace, as you find the right spot for this or that element, all while adjusting things such as the weather, season, or time of day, so that you can capture the right vibe you’re going for. This is a game that has been inspired by Hokko Life, the colorful community sim game available on Nintendo Switch, which this particular publisher and indie dev team combo worked on for its 2022 release.

Hokko Spaces is out on Nintendo Switch with a $7.99 price tag. You can also get the Hokko Spaces – Sunshine Edition for $8.99, which, along with the base game, also includes the Lei’s Beachside Pack featuring:

– New villager: Lei
– Rubber Ducky floaty ring
– Unicorn floaty ring
– Turtle floaty ring
– Lifeguard’s chair
– Boombox
– Campervan

But what if you only buy the main game for now? Then you can upgrade it at a later date if you get the Hokko Spaces – Lei’s Beachside Pack DLC for $1.99. You do need to know that right now you can hurry up and take advantage of a 10% discount for the Hokko Spaces – Sunshine Edition.
