LEGO Voyagers from Annapurna Interactive and Light Brick Studio is a nonverbal, narrative-driven, Rated E for Everyone co-op adventure that you’ll have to take on, one LEGO brick at a time. You’ll work alongside one another as you tumble, jump, and snap together as needed, building around you as you explore each colorful location. How did you get into this journey in the first place? It turns out that you’ve made it your goal to rescue an abandoned spaceship, and that means going on an adventure that places you in the role of a small LEGO brick… and of another LEGO brick controlled by your companion. This means you’ll have to play with someone else either locally or by making the most of the online co-op component.

And yes, as you can tell from the trailer and screens in this LEGO Voyagers review, everything around you will indeed be built from LEGO pieces and parts that you’ve probably used to build a variety of characters, locations, items, and contraptions over the years! You’ll jump into action right away, as a blue LEGO brick and a red LEGO brick come together to, at times, act as one.
Once the story cutscene is over, you’ll be taking control of your small LEGO brick by using the left analog stick as you roll around each area. Jump by pressing the B button so that you can clear some gaps along the way, as well as climb up platforms as needed. Pressing the A button near some blocks or contraptions will allow you to press your LEGO brick onto it, snapping into place. You’ll get a taste for this early in the game when you get on top of what seems to be a minimalist take on the aforementioned spaceship.

You’ll then need to cling onto a large single-row LEGO piece so that you can go over a chasm of the bottomless variety. And after that, you’ll realize you can snap onto some LEGO pieces and then move them around to create platforms or other stuff to help you continue! This is when you’ll definitely need to start working together with your companion, so that you can build something useful with your combined efforts. And maybe, just maybe, you’ll also be able to take a break and sit down in a small chair and take in the view.
Soon, you’ll start to spot the many LEGO pieces that you’ve used to build a variety of things over the years, used to represent minimalist takes on creatures you know from real life. Minimalist but colorful butterflies and crabs? Sure. Creepy bats? You bet! As you use more and more different LEGO pieces, you’ll sometimes need to press the X button to rotate how you’re holding them, so that you can build the structures needed to progress further.

You’ll be able to find some spots here and there during your adventure where you can take a moment to unwind and relax for a bit. Use a pair of swings while you view a spot in the distance, or jump onto a seesaw as you marvel at the communications technology of ages past that has certainly seen better days.
