NanoApostle from PQube and 18Light Game is a dark sci-fi boss rush experience on Nintendo Switch. You’ll be placed in the role of Anita, a girl who has been birthed by experimental procedures, and who has been implanted with a sentient nanomechanical entity that is known as ‘Apostle’. Apostle – who you’ll nickname as Kuro – is a semi-autonomous combat nano-prosthetic, and it will be assisting you in escaping from Pioneer’s Level 6 Biochemical Weapons Lab.

But before you can do this, you’ll need to fully wake up from your slumber and take on a series of combat tests to prove that you’re more than ready to take on the deadly entities that will aim at stopping you from escaping from your technologically advanced prison.
Once you jump into action, you’ll be taking control of your character by using the left analog stick, as you take on your enemies by using light attacks with the Y button to build up combos. As you attack enemies, you’ll build up energy, which you can then use to shoot at enemies from a safer distance by pressing the ZR button.

Shooting an enemy will inflict them with a stack of Infected, which is represented by a diamond above an enemy’s HP. Landing subsequent light attacks will increase the infection progress. Once the infection bar is full, you can attack an enemy to trigger an Absorb. An Absorb deals a lot of damage, and also allows you to recover a bit of your HP.
When an enemy is performing a melee attack, you can try to time things just right and press the ZL button to perform a perfect parry. After this, the enemy’s destruction point will appear, which you’ll be able to attack to deal a ton of damage while also stunning your opponent. A perfect parry can also be used to reflect projectiles from enemies. Hitting an enemy’s destruction point will make the grappling hook icon pop up. This lets you press the R button to perform a dash attack.

Try to dodge incoming attacks by pressing the B button. This will allow you to become invincible for a short window, so that you can carry on fighting. This is extra important when a red exclamation point appears above an enemy, since that means that attack can’t be parried. Oh, and if you have enough charges, you can heal your wounds by pressing the X button. You can review how many heals you have left by checking the top-left corner.
The first battle might not seem like it’s going to be that difficult, but this doesn’t mean you should throw caution to the wind and chill out, because the other bosses will be more than ready to crush you if you so much as make a mistake! Boss fights will be multi-stage battles in which each major enemy will have different movement and attack patterns for you to figure out, meaning there’s going to be lots of trial and error in your future.

You’ll have a chance to enhance your combat power by equipping modules from the Expansion Module screen. You can obtain Expansion Modules by progressing through the game’s story and will need to purchase them with the Skill Points that you obtain by completing the series of challenges that you’ll be presented with.
Some examples of the Expansion Modules that you can obtain and equip include the Temporary Bio-Barrier, which gives you a short window of invincibility when using heal, while also lowering incoming damage for 25 seconds, the Insta-Booster, which, when using the grappling hook, will increase the damage of light attacks by 60%, with the effect lasting up to 8 seconds based on the dashing distance, or the Energy Discharge, which, when delaing melee attacks to a destruction point, will deal 30 extra damage while knocking yourself back.
