EVERSPACE 2: Galactic Edition from ROCKFISH Games and Engine Software brings us the full package on Nintendo Switch 2. EVERSPACE 2 is an extensive third-person single-player spaceship shooter with lots of content that will keep you exploring space as you go from planet to planet in order to loot and mine the resources needed for crafting better equipment that will allow you to stay on top of things as you try to outsmart and outgun your opponents. It takes the experience from EVERSPACE and expands and builds on what the team did for the prequel, as you jump into the role of Adam Roslin, a clone of the original human individual of the same name.
As was the case for the previous release, ROCKFISH Games took the sequel to Kickstarter, seeking €450,000 in funding for the game’s development. Once the crowdfunding campaign was over, and thanks to the support of close to 8,000 backers, the studio managed to secure €500,000+ in funding. While the game was initially considered for a PlayStation 4 release, this was moved to PlayStation 5 due to the increased scope and size of the overall experience. That version launched in 2023.
After a shadow drop on Nintendo’s current-gen console, we now have access to EVERSPACE 2: Galactic Edition, and the name for this release is very, very important. Not only do we have the main EVERSPACE 2 experience, we also have all of its DLC available in a single package. That means we get EVERSPACE 2: Titans, EVERSPACE 2: Wrath of the Ancients, as well as the EVERSPACE 2: Supporter Pack.
You can play through the game and its additional content by picking from one of five difficulty settings as you explore the Demilitarized Zone in Cluster 34: Very Easy, Easy, Normal, Hard, and Very Hard. The Very Easy difficulty setting will allow you to focus on the story without having to worry about any complications. The Easy difficulty setting lowers the challenge from combat a bit.
The Normal difficulty setting offers the standard experience, tailored to challenge you without making you feel overwhelmed. The Hard difficulty setting raises the stakes, requiring you to pay attention to your enemies and their movement and attack patterns so that you can dodge incoming attacks and make the most of your weapons to tear them into pieces. As for the Very Hard difficulty setting, it certainly dials things up to 11! You’ll need to be extremely careful, since any mistake you make will cost you dearly.
EVERSPACE 2 will kindly send you into a tutorial segment during the first mission that you’ll take on. It’s disguised as a mobility check after one of the ships in the convoy malfunctions. You’ll be using the left analog stick to pilot your spaceship as you use the right analog stick to control the camera and move it around you as needed. Pressing in on the left analog stick will allow you to boost for a bit. Switch camera modes by pressing up on the D-Pad. Hover up and down by pressing the L and ZL buttons, respectively.
Press and hold down the A button to activate the Cruise Drive, which will allow your ship to travel forward at a much faster pace. Oh, and while exploring a location, be sure to press the A button to pull any resources you find toward your spaceship! You can also use the A button to interact with larger objectives so that you can loot them. Or, you know, to hack a terminal.
You can press in on the right analog stick to lock onto a target. Fire your main weapon by pressing the ZR button, and fire your secondary weapon by using the R button. Switch between your primary and secondary weapon options by pressing left on the D-Pad for primary weapons or right on the D-Pad for secondary weapons. Devices are mapped to the Y button. Consumables are set to the B button. Traveling over large distances? Then you might want to use the Supralight Drive, which you can charge up by pressing and holding down the X button. Speaking of charging up, as you attack and defeat enemies, you’ll be charging up your ULT. Once available, you can unleash your ULT by pressing up on the D-Pad, which will change depending on what spaceship you’re currently piloting.
As you loot stuff and trade with your credits, you’ll be able to get your hands on some new equipment. You can put this to good use by opening up your inventory with the – button and adding some new stuff here and there to your loadout. A more powerful weapon that can deal more damage at a steady pace is always going to be good for bumping your odds of survival. You can have two primary weapons and two secondary weapons equipped to your slots.
What’s included with EVERSPACE 2: Galactic Edition? As mentioned before, along with access to the base game, this Nintendo Switch 2 release also includes all of the extra DLC content previously released for the game. That would be EVERSPACE 2: Titans, EVERSPACE 2: Wrath of the Ancients, as well as the EVERSPACE 2: Supporter Pack. EVERSPACE 2: Titans gives us the Dreadnought and Leviathan spaceships as well as new weapon and gear sets to collect, all while exploring two new storylines.
EVERSPACE 2: Wrath of the Ancients takes us on a post-game story journey with new side quests, four new star systems, new weapons and gear, and the Wraith starfighter. As for the EVERSPACE 2: Supporter Pack, it grants you access to 50+ customization options that you can use to make your spaceship feel like your own. These include adjustable ship skins, decals, engine and thruster effects, and cybernetic glow lighting options.

I previously had a chance to work on an EVERSPACE review on PlayStation 4 back in 2018, so I was definitely up for checking out the sequel on the Nintendo Switch 2. This is the best way of diving into this experience, and it’s definitely worth checking out, since being able to play it at home or on the go is a big plus. Yes, the game is presented at a locked 30 frames per second at home or on the go, but that shouldn’t keep you from giving it a go.
EVERSPACE 2: Galactic Edition is out on Nintendo Switch 2 with a $49.99 price tag, and it includes the base game as well as all paid DLC in a single package. This is a great price considering that the PlayStation 5 version of the game is available for $49.99 and does not include the DLC. This release on Nintendo Switch 2 offers roughly 50+ hours of content, making it a great option for both those new to the game and those of you with a bit more experience who want to take it for another spin.
