Truck Driver: The American Dream from SODESCO and Kyodai will have you building a career as a truck driver. Your journey begins on May 3, 1996, in Ohio, during a massive storm. You’ll be driving a truck toward a shelter in order to save others. Once the intro is over, you’ll be told that the one who was driving all those decades ago was Nathan’s father, who died a hero during that fateful night. You’ll then get to learn more about Nathan. That would be the character you’ll be playing as for the rest of the game. You’re a bit of a screw-up, not being able to hold a job for long. With your wife, Linda, thinking it’s time to extend the family, you decide you need to get it together. It’s then that you accept an offer from Clint, your father’s closest friend, who has plenty of experience in the trucking industry. You must, therefore, follow in your father’s footsteps to get your life back on track.

You can take on the game’s Story Mode, which will be the main attraction for this release, or pick the Freedom to Roam option. The Story Mode will begin with the aforementioned prologue section in which you’ll be playing as your father, and it will be followed by many, many story chapters for you to make your way through. As for Freedom to Roam, it allows you to take on mission after mission as you explore each area at your own pace, as you level up, earn money, and unlock new trucks.

As for the driving part, you’ll be steering your truck by using the left analog stick as you press the R2 button to accelerate and the L2 button to hit the brakes. Pressing in on the right analog stick will switch the camera, and you can then use it to move it around your truck. Pressing in on the left analog stick will activate the horn. You can press the Square button to enable or disable your headlights, which will be crucial for when you’re driving in the rain or at night. You can shift up or down by pressing the X or Triangle buttons as needed.
