RoadOut from DANGEN Entertainment and Rastrolabs Game Studio is a story-driven action RPG that mixes twin-stick gameplay mechanics with driving segments. You’ll be placed in the role of Claire, a mercenary for hire who takes on a variety of contracts to make ends meet. It’s not like everyone else is rushing to take on these contracts in The Dead Zone! It’s a harsh world you live in, with an evil A.I. and the rebel groups under its command, ruled with an iron fist.

Taking on black market contracts from local leaders is far from the ideal situation, but taking on these delivery, sabotage, and murder gigs is the only way you can survive. After all, The Dead Zone is being split by three rival factions who want to rule everything: The Wasteheads, The SaibaKuran, and Order of the New Code. This large artificial biome is the last hope for humanity. Your journey will begin after your car’s power cell is damaged, forcing you to enter an old building to see if you can find a power source you can use. You’ll pretty much start from scratch, with no power cell for your car, no gun, and no idea where you are. Maybe this pre-war bunker will allow you to turn around your luck.
When you’re playing as Claire and are walking around, you’ll be taking control of her by using the left analog stick as you rotate the camera around you, as needed, by using the right analog stick. You can attack enemies with the Y button, with your second attack mapped to the A button. There’s also the option of stopping in place to aim by pressing the R button, and then using the left analog stick to aim in the direction you want to attack. If you press and hold down the Y button, you can charge up your attack to deal more damage or to remove some of the obstacles you might find.

Switch between your available weapons and items by using the D-Pad. Dash by pressing the B button so that you can try to avoid incoming attacks from your enemies. Open up your map by pressing the – button so that you can review your surroundings. If you have an item, you can use it by pressing the X button.
When you’re inside your car, you’ll be steering by using the left analog stick as you accelerate with the ZR button and hit the brakes as needed with the ZL button. This won’t allow you to go in reverse. Instead, you’ll need to press the L button to go backward. Zoom by using the right analog stick. You can use a turbo boost by pressing the B button. There’s also the possibility of shooting at enemies by pressing the Y button.

The racing part will allow you to travel between areas, and there are also going to be different racing tracks to experience. There are 10 tracks in total, with several races to complete as you aim for glory. On top of that, there are also some destruction derby challenges to take on, in which pretty much everything goes. There are also battle arenas that will test your skills to see if you’re really as good as you think you are.
Since you’re living in a post-apocalyptic world, you’ll need to make ends meet by using the resources you collect so that you can craft items to aid you. The first one will be free, since you’ll craft a melee weapon with what you have in your car. After that, you’ll collect a pair of conduits that will allow you to craft a very useful healing kit to recover a bit of your lost health so that you can heal your wounds. Since you burned your skin after checking out why your car stopped moving, healing that wound is a big priority on your list!

Along with the aforementioned conduit, you can also get your hands on some alcohol, the always classic scrap metal, synthetic fluid, and even research data for new technology that will allow you to boost yourself and your car. While crafting a health kit is a good use of your resources, you should also find enough materials to craft a power cell that you can use to repair some of the damage that your vehicle will receive while exploring.
