Dracamar from Petoons Studio and 3Cat brings us a PS2-era-inspired 3D platformer on Nintendo Switch. In this new adventure, you’ll be going up against the evil King Crad, a dragon who aims to conquer Dracamar. It all started when the sunken island of Draclantis emerged, leading King Crad to capture the Coroki flower, using its energy to turn the colorful Okis into dangerous Mokis. It’s now up to you to save the day before it’s too late! You’ll be taking on 15 different levels, as well as 5 secret bonus levels, as you take on a variety of enemies, all while collecting stars along the way.

You’ll be exploring the islands in this land as you free the trapped Okis, making the most of the Moki-balls so that you can use their energy to rebuild the bridges that can once again connect all islands. You’ll be making the most of the skills and abilities of the three characters you can play as – Caliu, Foc, and Espurna – who will be joined by Iko, a very special Oki. Dracamar is a land that has been inspired by Mediterranean landscapes and culture, with a focus on Catalan culture.
Given the game’s 3D nature, you’ll be taking control of the character of your choice by using the left analog stick or the D-Pad, running by pressing and holding down the ZR button. Use the right analog stick to move the camera around as needed. Recenter the camera by pressing the L button. Interact with Okis and other characters by pressing the B button. This will allow you to pet the Oki, as well as talk with the different characters you’ll meet, and who might be able to help you!

You can jump and double jump by pressing the A button. Jump and then press the B button to perform a powerful stomp. There are also some spots where you will get a chance to perform a series of wall jumps in order to reach higher spots. Press the Y button to perform a spin attack to destroy boxes or attack enemies. Some enemies will have a bit of armor on them, which will require that you perform a stomp to remove it. Crouch by pressing the B button. Perform a quick roll by pressing the X button. You’ll be carrying Iko inside your glove, and you will be able to call him into action during specific moments to aid you.
Say you need to jump up to get over a large wall. Iko will be able to transform into a jump pad so that you can gain the extra height needed to get there. Just press the ZL button and have Iko merge with the spring and transform. Another spot might require you to use Iko to merge with a screw. This will turn Iko into a large screw that you can spin around with your attack, making some platforms appear in the process. To lower the amount of backtracking you’ll need to do, some spots will allow you to turn Iko into a cannon so that you can be sent flying toward the right spot from which you can continue to explore the current level.

It’s a game that skews toward a bit of a younger demographic, given its Rated E10+ (Everyone 10+) rating, which is why it will sometimes feel very straightforward without much extra exploring to do. This is why the additional collectibles are needed in order to extend the replay value for those of you who like to 100% games.

There are some accessibility options to consider. These include color blindness modes for Deuteranopia, Protanopia, and Tritanopia, enabling or disabling vibration feedback, and having the camera center automatically. You can also enable auto run, as well as invert the camera and change the turning sensitivity. And if you’re having trouble with the enemies and bosses, you can also increase max health. Dracamar is out on Nintendo Switch with a $24.99 price tag.
