Gecko Gods from Super Rare Games and Inresin is a 3D puzzle adventure in which you’ll explore a mysterious island chain… as a gecko! You’ll be free to use your abilities to explore the different caves, ruins, and even ancient temples that you’ll uncover, locations that hail from the era of a lost civilization. The titular Gecko Gods have been awaiting for a long time to be awakened, in order to carry on with the eternal cycle. It’s now up to you to find out how to achieve this goal.

Since you’re playing as a gecko, this means you can go up walls and even cling to the ceiling, making it possible for you to reach spots that would be out of reach for some of the other creatures that you’ll run into. Done exploring an island? Then you can use your handy – and tiny! – boat to travel to the next island so that you can explore it at your own pace. There’s no wrong way of doing things, so you’ll be able to take on this journey as you please.
With the game being played from a third-person perspective, you’ll be taking control of your sleek gecko by using the left analog stick, as you use the right analog stick to move the camera around you as needed. As a heads-up, the first thing you should do before you start to play is go into the options menu and change the camera sensitivity and increase it around 3 times or so. This will make it so that you can actually control the camera at a speed fast enough to actually be useful.

You can run by pressing and holding down the ZR button. Jump by pressing the B button, and interact by pressing the Y button. You can also press the Y button to chirp away if you want to. Press the A button to perform a dash. The dash can be used to put some distance between yourself and your enemies, as well as to attack them and deal some damage. You can also use it to break vases and grab the glowing runes they drop – more on these in a bit.
If you need some extra help, there’s an in-game guide you can check out by pressing the X button, turning from page to page by using the L and R buttons. This is how you’ll be able to see where your next objective is, as well as check out the different creatures you’ve found in each area of the islands you’ll explore. You know, after you digest them. Oh, and you can also check which relics you’ve found!

The first of the Gecko Goss that you’ll need to search for and awaken is the Great Water Gecko. The good news? It seems that your destination is not that far away! While it’s near you, that doesn’t mean you can go there directly. You’ll first need to interact with a series of inscriptions at the center of the island, so that you can then know where you need to go to ring a series of special gongs that will eventually open up the way for you.
Remember those glowing symbols? These will act as the in-game currency, which can be traded to unlock customization options. These will grant you new looks for your gecko, adding different colorful patterns that will help to make it stand out in each area.
