Apartment No 129 from Axyos Games and Dead Witness is a first-person horror experience in which you must visit the cursed titular location. This Rated M for Mature experience will be placing you in the role of Emir, a content creator who decides it would be a good idea to explore the aforementioned spot to create some social media content for his horror YouTube channel. Unfortunately, things didn’t go as smoothly as he had planned. Why are you exploring Apartment No 129 in the first place?

Apartment No 129 Review - 1

There’s an urban legend about Apartment No 129 dating from back in 2009 in Turkey. It seems that two girls in this particular apartment decided that performing satanic rituals would have no consequences. Plot twist: both girls ended up dead on that faithful night, all under mysterious circumstances. Those who lived in the building said that a terrible earthquake struck, shattering all windows and sending furniture flying. And yet, there are no reports of an earthquake taking place that night in the first place.

I have previously played a trio of releases from Axyos Games that were published by eastasiasoft: Neko Secret Homecoming Light, a bite-sized lite fan service 3D and 2D experience, Neko Journey, a 2.5D platformer that – again – features some lite fan service, and Anime vs. Evil: Apocalypse, a Rated T for Teen third-person action game… with some fan service. Apartment No 129 is certainly going to be a different experience, right?

Once the intro cutscene is over – which uses full-motion video – you’ll be ready to explore the area where the apartment is allegedly located. Or, you would be, if not for the camera. Before you even take a single step, I suggest that you first go into the options menu and lower Look Sensitivity to 2.1, turn off Look Smoothing, and lower Smoothing Speed to 0, just in case. The game tries to do something different with its camera to try to lower potential motion sickness, but in my experience, it only made things worse.

Since the game is played from a first-person perspective, you’ll be taking control of your character by using the left analog stick and the right analog stick to move the camera around you as needed. You can sprint by pressing in on the left analog stick. With this one being a horror release, you can expect there to be a lot of darkness in your future. This is why you’ll need to make the most of your flashlight, so that you can see where you’re going. Just press the L1 button to use it and hope for the best!

You can crouch by pressing the Triangle button. Examine things by pressing the Circle button. Use items by pressing the X button. Jump by pressing the Square button. Once you find yourself a weapon, you will be able to fire it by pressing the R2 button and reload it by pressing the R1 button. Be sure to always reload, or else you might find yourself in a predicament when your weapon has no bullets, and you run into a dangerous monster! Check your inventory by pressing in on the Touchpad on the DualSense. That way, you’ll be able to check the different items that you’ve managed to collect so far.

Trophy-wise, this is one of those rare games releasing on PlayStation 5 without a full trophy list – in 2026! On top of that, the game features a very short trophy list that is split into one Bronze trophy and a trio of Gold trophies for you to work on. The handful of objectives that you’ll need to complete include finding your way to Apartment No 129, defeating your first enemy, defeating a particular enemy, and uncovering the final secret.
