Shoot ’em up gem The Legend of Steel Empire from Mebius and ININ Games is now ready to go on PlayStation 4. With the Silverhead and Motorhead nations at war, Silverhead decides to send the Reinhart into action to bring your aircraft as close to the battlefield as possible. Silverhead has, at your disposal, two aircraft: the nimble but deadly Etupirka (ET-02R) or the heavy and powerful Zeppellon (ZP-02N). Which one will you choose?

Steel Empire was originally released for the Sega Genesis/Megadrive all the way back in 1992. The game saw a worldwide release, so you could find it in Japan, North America, and Europe, with a name change to Empire of Steel in Europe. This shoot ’em up classic comes from developer HOT・B, and it plunges us into a steampunk-inspired world. The game was later ported to Nintendo’s Game Boy Advance in 2004, and then in 2014 to the Nintendo 3DS. This was followed by an HD port of the game to the PC, and it’s this version that we’re now getting a port of on Sony’s PlayStation 4.
You’ll be piloting the airship or airplane by using the left analog stick or D-Pad, depending on your preference. Since enemies will swoop in from the left and right sides of the screen, you’ll be able to shoot left and right based on your position by using the Square and Circle buttons, respectively. If you have enough in stock, you can activate a very powerful Super Bomb by pressing the X button, which will deal a ton of damage to everything on the screen… and that includes bosses!

As you take on each of the levels that the game has to offer, you should always make sure to collect the different power-ups and items that will start to float around the screen. The ones with a large P will allow you to slowly but surely increase the firepower of the aircraft you’ve picked. You can also grab a large dollar sign item to increase your score. There’s another one with a large O that will add some options to fight alongside you. And since your aircraft can survive more than one hit, you should definitely collect the items with a huge heart on them, since these can repair your aircraft! Oh, and there’s also an item with a large B that will add an extra Super Bomb to your stock.
And now, let’s talk about the trophies! This one features a full trophy list with a Platinum trophy for you to aim for. The list is split into 8 Bronze trophies, 4 Silver trophies, and 8 Gold trophies for you to work on. What will you need to do for that shiny Platinum trophy? You’ll get a trophy for starting to pilot the Etupirka, another one for starting to pilot the Zeppellon, for completing each of the levels that the game has to offer, for completing all the levels piloting the Etupirka, for completing all the levels piloting the Zeppellon, completing the game on the Easy, Normal, Hard, and Very hard difficulty settings, and obtaining a score of 1,000,000 points, to name some examples.
