Wildgate from Dreamhaven and Moonshot Games brings us a fast-paced first-person shooter with a dash of spaceship piloting thrown in for good measure. You’ll be taking on the role of a Prospector, and will need to explore the deadly Reach, an unpredictable place where great treasure can be found… as long as you manage to survive the journey! The game will throw you into a procedurally generated map that will change with every game, thus always keeping you on high alert. If you are to be the one who will claim the priceless Artifact, you’ll need to be ready to give it your all and be sure to adjust your strategy on the fly, or else your rivals are going to destroy your crew in an instant! Managed to grab the Artifact? Then you’d better pass through the Widlgate before your opponents catch you! Pick from one of the different Prospectors, with each one having their own abilities and tools to help the crew.

Once you’re ready to get started, you’ll be able to jump online and take on a series of objectives that will test your skills and expertise. You can work on completing daily missions that will provide you with experience points, or you can also work on weekly missions. These include, for example, finishing a set number of games, scanning a series of locations, piloting a ship over X meters, completing a game in a pre-made party, completing Reach locations, and having your crew blasting a Legion Ghost.

When on foot, you’ll be taking control of your character by using the left analog stick, as you use the right analog stick to look around you as needed. Sprint by pressing in on the left analog stick. Jump by pressing the X button. You can also use your jetpack to fly up for a bit. Fly down by pressing the Circle button. You can fire your weapon by pressing the R2 button. Aim down the sights by pressing the L2 button if you want to take a more precise shot. Pressing in on the right analog stick will allow you to perform a short-range melee attack. Use primary equipment by pressing the L1 button, and secondary equipment by pressing up on the D-Pad. You have access to a multitool, which you can use to, say, put out some fires created by the ship’s reactor overheating, fix a broken window, or a switch that is malfunctioning.

When piloting a ship, you’ll use the left analog stick to turn around and move forward or backward. Use the right analog stick to look around. Throttle up by pressing the X button and throttle down by pressing the Circle button. You can hit the brakes by pressing the Triangle button or the L1 button. Raise or lower the shields by using the L2 button. Jump onto a turret by pressing the Square button, so that you can then use it to attack enemies as quickly as possible. Oh, and you can open your map by pressing the Touchpad on the DualSense controller.

While you won’t be able to choose from all of them right away, you’re probably curious about who the Prospects are that you can play as. There’s Adrian, who happens to be a Raider. He’s got a jetpack, wings that allow him to fly 30% faster than most, and 100 health. Venture is an Explorer robot, so it doesn’t require oxygen. It can regenerate health at a faster pace, and 100 health. Kae is a Boarder. She can interact with objects that are 8 meters away, has a warp jump that allows you to teleport 100 meters away, and 100 health. Sammo is a Ship Defender. While on your ship, you can heal to 100% after blasting a Prospector. You can also see enemies through walls up to a 40-meter range, and have 130 health.

Ion is a Boarder. His melee attacks deal twice the regular damage and can destroy ship parts. Since he has four arms, he can automatically reload stowed weapons, and he has 120 health. Morphs is also a Boader. He can use camouflage to move faster while concealed, has wings that grant a 30% boost to flight speed, but has only 80 health. The last Prospector of the bunch is Sal, an Engineer who uses a large robotic body. Thanks to reflective nanites, the multitool bounces to hit a second target. He can also scrap unwanted items in the ship processor, getting random items or weird devices. Oh, and he has 120 health.

There are also different ships for you to consider. You know, once you unlock them all. The first one that will be available by default is the Hunter. The Hunter is a Gunship, so it will have a trio of front guns, faster shields down speed, and 90 health. The Bastion is a Secure Ship. It will have 130 health, guns in all directions, and most of its doors are secure. The Privateer is a powerful Battleship. This one will have 100 health, six turrets in the forward deck, and its projectiles will fire at twice the velocity. The last one is the Scout, a Fast Ship. This one has the lowest health of the bunch at 75, but it makes up for this with +30% max speed and +20% turn speed.

Trophy-wise, this one does not feature a full trophy list, which is definitely going to end up rubbing fellow trophy hunters out there the wrong way. The available list is split into 18 Bronze trophies, 4 Silver trophies, and 6 Gold trophies for you to work on. What will you need to do if you want to 100% this trophy list? Some of the objectives include finishing the tutorial, mining 10 ice or fuel, scanning 10 locations with the probe, earning 1,000 pilot XP, doing 100 damage to enemy ships, overloading 10 enemy reactors, looting 20 items from lost locations, repairing 50 ship parts, destroying 10 enemy ships, defeating 3 boss monsters, and winning a game by being the last ship standing, to name some examples.

Haunted Hazard: Dead player ships will be haunted by a new Legion Boss, which drops a Hallowed Crate upon defeat.
Hallowed Crates: Featuring 16 pieces of free content, these special crates are found in themed locations or dropped from bosses on haunted dead player ships (players can claim their very own Space-O-Lantern fireworks simply by logging in during the event).

Haunted Locations: Experience spine-tingling themed locations across the Reach during the event (and you may even spot some frighteningly clever ship names).

New Anomalies and Oddities: In addition to atmospheric changes in the Reach, players can discover Crystals that provide health to their ship, a Vampire Hardpoint that absorbs the health of a nearby ship when destroyed, a Barrier Turbine that blocks elemental hazards, and a Racing Booster for daredevils who like to live fast (and occasionally explode).
