Through the Nightmares from Pingle Studio and Sandman Team is a 2.5D hardcore precision platformer that places you in the role of a size-shifting spirit. You’re Sandman and are in charge of bringing dreams to people. After several children end up lost in the kingdom of Morpheus, the mad god of dreams, it’s now up to you to do whatever it takes to rescue the kids and bring them back to their families. It offers a familiar gameplay loop that will have you taking on dozens of challenging levels as you find the right way to clear each one while avoiding hazards and beating enemies while making the most of the instant respawns and checkpoint system.
You’ll take control of your character by using the left analog stick or the D-Pad. You must change sizes to be able to squeeze between tight spots as you run and jump through the 45 handcrafted levels on offer. Jump by pressing the X button and change your size as needed by using the L2 and R2 buttons. You can slam down onto the ground by pressing the Circle button after jumping. Once you grab a time flask, you’ll be able to establish a checkpoint by pressing the Square button. As you collect items while exploring each nightmare, you’ll get to learn more about the children and their past, all while you find out more about what has really happened to Morpheus and why all of this is now going on.
The game has a full trophy list with a Platinum trophy for you to add to your collection. The list is split into 14 Bronze trophies, 16 Silver trophies, and 4 Gold trophies for you to work on. What will you need to do to add that shiny Platinum to your collection? Along with trophies for completing each chapter, escaping from each boss, and beating the game, there will also be trophies for collecting your first item, as well as for completing some miscellaneous objectives that are tied to either other games or memes, which is why I won’t be spoiling them here.
