Kulebra and the Souls of Limbo from Fellow Traveler and Galla Games brings us a chill papercraft adventure set in the afterlife. Your task is simple: help the residents of Limbo to finally move on. In death, a new life begins, and it’s up to you to make sure that this new life brings new opportunities to those around you. You’ll need to gather clues, items, and the evidence needed to help them complete whatever it is that is keeping them from carrying onward. You’ll be taking on the role of the titular Kulebra, a snake that must find a way to break the neverending cycle in which the people of Limbo find themselves stuck. Every detail is important, so be sure to pay attention to your surroundings!
As you take on the in-game cycle that moves from day to dusk to night while all of the Limbo inhabitants follow their strict, looping schedules, you’ll have to find a way to start to make a difference, or else the curse will catch up to you in the end. Having your life reset at the end of each day a fun eternity does not make! The good news is that you’ll be able to keep track of important stuff by making good use of your handy notebook, which will certainly come in handy. The bad news is that you won’t be able to work on your plan non-stop, as there are dark forces behind the scenes pulling the strings, and they’re not happy about what you’re trying to do.
Once you get started, you’ll take control of Kulebra by using the left analog stick or the D-Pad as you move around each area. You can interact with items or other characters by using the A button. Roll around by pressing the B button. The items that you collect will be added to your inventory, which you can open up by pressing the X button. Switch between items by using the L, ZL, R, and ZR buttons to switch left and right as needed. Sometimes, you’ll need to combine items before you can use them to solve a puzzle, so be sure to pay attention to each item’s description as you check what each one can do.
The game will kindly ease you into things by showing you the basics during the early segments. One of the people who have crossed over into Limbo is currently stuck on a rock due to some vines that have wrapped all around them. She says she’s an Old Lady… even though she was about to give you her name. She was trying to help someone when things took a turn for the worse. It’s now up to you to find a way to set her free so that she can continue with her journey before it’s too late. She needs you to find something to cut the vines, so you’ll have to search the area for anything sharp that can get the job done. Once you locate the item – it’s a pair of sharp scissors – you’ll be able to go back and slash through the vines.
