7’scarlet from Aksys Games, Idea Factory International, Otomate, and TOYBOX Inc. is an Otome visual novel that has now made its way to the Nintendo Switch. The game’s story takes place in the rather remote town of Okunezato. This is a peculiar location that happens to be shaped like a crescent moon, which sorta helps to amplify the many dark myths and legends that envelop it. You’ll be taking on the role of Ichiko Hanamaki, a young college student who ends up venturing into the town of Okunezato after her brother goes missing. It’s been a year since that fateful moment, and it’s up to you and your childhood friend Hino Kagutsuchi to do whatever it takes to find out the truth about your brother’s disappearance.

How did you end up at Okunezato in the first place? You got there since you discovered a rather peculiar website that talked about the town’s different mysteries and legends. This is known as the Okunezato Supernatural Club. With an offline meeting set to take place at Okunezato, you and Hino join in, hoping that you’d be able to find some leads as to what happened to your brother. It’s Hino who manages to convince you about this trip. The young men ot the Okunezato Supernatural Club gather at the Fuurinkan Hotel. Who are the members of the Okunezato Supernatural Club
There’s Fuurin Cafe’s chef, Isora Amari, nerdy cat-lover and freelancer Toa Kushinada, high-class med student Sosuke Tatehira, and Yuzuki Murakumo, who just happens to be the owner of the Fuurinkan Hotel. Joining Ichiko and Hino will also be the young genius in his first year of middle school, Yuki Hirasaka, wandering scenic photographer Kagura Tsukuyomi, self-proclaimed – and rather unfriendly – novelist Chikage Karasuma, and Fuurinkan Hotel female staff member and game-lover Yua Susano. This is the cast of characters that will be dragged into this story after they begin to talk about the Legend of the Revenants…

This one was originally released for Sony’s PlayStation Vita in Japan in 2016 with Idea Factory acting as the game’s publisher. It was later released in the West by Aksys Games as publisher in 2018. In fact, Tracey got a chance to take the game for a spin for her 7’scarlet review back then, and she enjoyed her time with it, saying it was a solid Otome visual novel. It’s now time for us to check it out on the Nintendo Switch and see if the game has managed to stand the test of time!

The Nintendo Switch’s screen is also larger at 6.2 inches compared to the 5-inch PS Vita screens. While playing in Docked Mode, the resolution goes up to a full HD territory with 1,920×1,080 pixels. 7’scarlet is out on Nintendo Switch with a $49.99 price tag.
