Are you ready to go back to the world of Darkest Dungeon II? Then check out our Darkest Dungeon II: Inhuman Bondage DLC review!

I reviewed Darkest Dungeon II from Red Hook Studios last year on PlayStation 5, so you should definitely check out our review to learn more about the base game itself so that you can better understand what this DLC brings to the table. If you haven’t been playing the game over the last month or so, once you’ve bought and downloaded the Inhuman Bondage DLC, you might notice that the game’s main menu now contains two options: Confessions and Kingdoms. This is because the game got a free update that added the Kingdoms option. The Confessions section features the original base game’s run-based adventure. As for Kingdoms, it’s a different type of experience that has you protecting the Kingdom and defending safe havens as you purge the evil from the land. It will pit you against 3 new factions -The Coven, Beastmen, and Crimson Courtiers – as you try to overcome even the worst of odds.

With the Inhuman Bondage DLC, you’ll be getting access to a new mini region known as The Catacombs. This area offers a high-risk, high-reward location for you to explore in the Confessions and Kingdoms modes. This area includes a slime-packed enemy faction that is unique to The Catacombs. You’ll also gain access to a new playable character: the Abomination. As its name suggests, this particular hero has a look that only a mother would love. It brings to the table new trinkets and signature items, as well as a new backstory for you to unravel. It’s a character that makes its return from Darkest Dungeon to add a monstrous set of abilities to the group.

The Inhuman Bondage DLC adds a new set of trophies into the mix for all you trophy hunters out there. It has an additional 12 trophies for you to 100% the game, with objectives tied to the DLC and its new character. Because of this, you’ll be asked to defeat 7 slimes in a single fight, have any hero use a Cracked Geo in combat, complete Abomination’s backstory, apply 5 memories to Abomination, form a group with Abomination and 3 other specific heroes, have Abomination transform into beast form 3 times in a single fight, and gain each of the effects from the Purloiner Felid at least once in a single expedition or campaign, to name some examples.

On top of that, the free Kingdoms update also added some trophies to the game, with an extra list of 13 Bronze trophies for you to work on. The objectives for this set of trophies include successfully completing the K1: Hunger of the Beast Clan module on any difficulty, defending a siege using only Peasant Militia, using a signal flare, purchasing an inn capstone, completing 5 kill contracts in a single campaign, deliver 5 rumors over the course of a single campaign, and successfully completing a Kingdoms campaign while losing only a single Inn, among others.
