Midnight Murder Club from Sony Interactive Entertainment and Velan Studios has now landed in Early Access on PlayStation 5. Learn more about the game in our Midnight Murder Club preview!
Midnight Murder Club from Sony Interactive Entertainment and Velan Studios has now landed in Early Access on PlayStation 5. You’ve just been invited to join the Midnight Murder Club. The Midnight Murder Club is an elite group in which members receive nothing more than a gun and a flashlight before they’re sent into the darkness of the mansion. All members of the Midnight Murder Club wear a mask to conceal their identities, as everyone tries to make every single shot count. You better land your shot, or else you’ll only give your location to everyone else! The game can be played online with gamers from around the world, in private matches with friends, or have the game populate some of the spots with bots – at least for a couple of the available modes.

I got a chance to check out Blindside at the end of 2024, a first-person shooter game that is also in Early Access on Sony’s console. That one is also an online multiplayer FPS in which you can’t see anything around you, unless you use your weapon to light up your surroundings or use your sonar-like ability to try to spot any enemy who is moving near you. It’s now 2025, and it’s the turn of Midnight Murder Club, which does offer some similarities for you to consider. While Blindfire draws participants in with the promise of huge fame and fortune – even if they’re pretty much risking their lives right away – Midnight Murder Club draw is that of a status symbol. By buying Midnight Murder Club, you’ll have the option of inviting up to five friends to join you at no extra cost, thanks to the Midnight Murder Club Guest Pass Edition on PlayStation 5.
Since the game is played from a first-person perspective, you’ll be controlling your character by using the left analog stick as you use the right analog stick to look around and aim your shots. Sprint for an extra speed boost by pressing in on the left analog stick. Crouch by pressing in on the right analog stick. Use the L2 button to turn your flashlight on and off, so that you can use its light to get a better view of things. Just remember that using your flashlight will also let everyone else know where you are!

Shoot at others by pressing the R2 button as needed. You can also try to knife someone else by pressing the R1 button if they’re close enough. Press the Square button to interact, which can be used to open or close doors or to activate the machine slot contraptions that will reward you with an item – which the game refers to as a toy. If you grab an item, you can use it by pressing the L1 button. These include things such as a molotov cocktail, a machine gun, a very handy item that will ping all players for a short period of time so that you can go on the hunt, and even a bulletproof vest that can protect you from a couple of bullets.
Even though the game is available on Early Access, that doesn’t mean this release has no trophy support. In fact, it features a full trophy list with a Platinum trophy for you to aim for. The list is split into 16 Bronze trophies, 8 Silver trophies, and 6 Gold trophies for you to work on. Some of the objectives for you to complete on your path toward that shiny Platinum include shooting at an opponent with your flashlight off, defeat an enemy while it’s trying to open a safe, ammo crate, or toy chest, being downed by a teammate, defeat an enemy while it’s reviving a teammate, defeat an enemy with the last round in your chamber, winning a Team Deathmatch match, playing 5 Free For All matches, getting the first kill in a Free For All match, defeat 500 opponents, revive 100 teammates, revive 100 teammates, knife 50 opponents, and die a total of 100 times, to name some examples.
