Metal Bringer from PLAYISM and ALPHAWING is a roguelite action game set in a distant future in which humanity is in danger. You’re Suria Yugia, and you’ve been awakened from your cryosleep sleep by your robotic companion, Bud. You’re now in Meru Laboratory, a facility created only for you. Oh, and it’s been functioning for 8,766,009 hours, which is roughly 1000 years. The integrated system S.I.V.A. has now taken over and plans to keep all of humanity in cryosleep forever. It has taken control of the Labor AI and is now working on capturing and freezing humans against their will. It’s too dangerous for you to fight directly, which is why you’ll be doing this through Labor and Arms. Labors are humanoid artificial entities, while Arms are larger mechs that Labor can ride around in.

The first step will be to build your first Labor. Labor will consist of a head, body, left weapon, and right weapon. You’ll need to consider the different parameters of each weapon to find the right combination that balances attack speed, attack power, and performable actions. You’ll need to take weight into consideration when building Labor since this will affect its overall speed and agility. Long-range weapons will also have reload speed, bullet speed, disperse, and other stats for you to keep in mind. Some weapons will be able to deal additional status damage, such as burn, freeze, electric, and more. You can also choose to change the color of each part of your Labor by selecting from the available options on the color palette. Change skin color, the color of its eyes, the outfit it’s wearing, its visor, weapon colors, and even the color of your shots!

You’ll control your character with the left analog stick as you use the right one to aim around you as needed. Use your left weapon with the L2 button and your right weapon with the R2 button. Jump with the X button and interact by pressing the Square button. Press the Circle button for a quick step. While your Labor’s weapons pack a punch, you should definitely search for an Arms to ride! When you’re near one, just press the down direction on the D-Pad to ride it. Use the L1 and R1 buttons to rotate the camera around you. If you find Arms parts, you can equip them to your current Arms and mix and match your setup. Press in on the right analog stick to lock onto a target. This is very useful when going up against several Arms or bosses.

As you play through Metal Bringer, you’ll get to collect special D Chips. These can be used to power up and upgrade your Labor so that you can, therefore, extend your subsequent runs. Boost your Labor’s HP, defense, arms programming, battery extension, charge control, arms connection, slash, thrust, smash, shot, lock-on, charge, aim movement, and movement programming. You can also upgrade weapon types, which include swords, lances, twinblades, drills, chainsaws, machine guns, gravity cannons, missile launchers, homing plasma cannons, and crossbows, to name some examples.

Obtain Blueprints, and you’ll also be able to install apps on your Labor before setting off on a new run. You can also collect plenty of apps during each of your runs, which will boost your Labor and Arms for that run while also opening the door for you to analyze and obtain new apps for your next runs. The apps you can use for your benefit include apps that will increase the charging speed of your weapons, your Labor’s mobility, the strength of your jumps, the damage dealt by blade weapons, the homing capabilities of your weapons, add piercing bullets to your long-range weapons, boost your combo meter, and more.
