Tsetseg’s Adventure from Nejcraft and Fuzhou Chen is a minimalist 2D platformer in which you must save your friends from the Mad Wizard. The titular witch must set out on a quest to rescue her friends as she gains access to the special power needed to defeat the Mad Wizard once and for all. The magic used by the Mad Wizard has turned your friends into bad guys, so you’ll have to defeat them on your journey to defeat the one behind all of this. On top of that, your magic power has been taken away! You’ll have to go to the castle and find a way to turn things around before it’s too late.
You’ll be taking control of Tsetseg with the left analog stick or the D-Pad as you jump by pressing the A button. You can jump on top of enemies to defeat them, and you can also jump on top of objects such as bombs to activate them. This is going to be part of the equation since a bomb that explodes near a block will send it flying forward so that you can then use it to step over some hazards or to reach a spot that would otherwise be too high for you to make a jump. You’ll gain additional abilities as you defeat bosses. These include a saucepan that Tsetseg can jump into to be invincible against bomb blasts or cannon blasts or a fireball you can launch by pressing the B button.
You’ll have to rely on some classic trial and error during your time with this one since there are no checkpoints within each level. That means that if you don’t make a jump and land on some spikes, or if a block falls on top of you, then you’ll have to start back at square one. This wouldn’t be an issue if Tsetseg didn’t walk so slowly. Having to redo a whole section because of a mistake is not bad. Having to redo a whole level due to how a stage was designed to trick you into having a bomb blast or a block defeat you… that is bad.
