Highway Police Simulator from Aerosoft and Z-Software is ready for you to check out on PlayStation 5. The game will place you in the role of a police officer in Caminora. You can play the game in one of two options: Simulation Mode or Casual Mode. Highway Police Simulator will have you play through the tutorial in Casual Mode for you to get an idea of how things are. If you still want to switch to Simulation Mode after that, do know that this means there will be no on-screen marker for objectives, less explanation in-game, and things will be more difficult to do, which might end up making everything feel a bit more tedious. Once you’ve made your choice, the only way of changing it will be to do so from the main menu.

The first step on this new journey will be to work on creating the character you’ll be using for the game. You can choose from a male or a female character. From there, you can pick how it will look from the available presets. The next step will be to pick your character’s civil clothes, hair, hair color, and eye color. You can toggle the character’s uniform to see how it will look when on duty. The last option to choose from is for your character’s story. This can be either that he/she comes from a police family or is a street kid. Each one will offer advantages or disadvantages to consider. Go with a police family, and you’ll have a good relationship with other police officers and rescue staff, but bikers, criminals, and inmates dislike you. Go with a street kid story, and you’ll see people from around the area show you more respect, but civilians are more suspicious and will sometimes ask things such as to talk to a “real cop” instead of you.

After a short intro sequence and a cutscene, you’ll be able to investigate your first scene. There was a car crash, so you’ll have to talk to the people there, document the accident by taking photos of the vehicles and their plates, search for clues, and use the police PC in the police car to write and send your report. Why did this accident happen? Because someone wanted to break out an inmate who was being transported on the bus you were escorting! Your police vehicle ended upside down after the incident, and now you’ll need to see what else happened and sort things out for your report.

As for the trophies, the game has a full trophy list with a Platinum trophy for you to try to add to your collection. The list is split into 6 Bronze trophies, 11 Silver trophies, and 6 Gold trophies for you to work your way through. What will you need to do for that shiny Platinum? Some of the objectives to complete include completing each story arc and finishing the game, driving 500 miles, achieving 100% morality for all of Caminora, walking for 5 miles, unlocking all fast travel spots, unlocking all police vehicles, completing 25 assignments, arresting 15 wrongdoers, successfully handling 15 accidents, completely wrecking your vehicle 5 times, collecting every uniform, special outfit, and civilian outfit, and buying a snack from every vending machine in Caminora, to name some examples.

Highway Police Simulator Review - 2

Highway Police Simulator will place you in the role of a police officer in Caminora. The city is in need of your expertise, but you’ll have to wrestle with the game’s controls, camera, and the many issues you’re about to run into. Unfortunately, the game is packed to the brim with bugs. You’ll be driving around trying to do your job when trees and other objects pop in and out of existence every handful of seconds. Other cars magically teleport a foot or two to the left and then to the right. When inside the police station, the light from outside will start to pour in through the walls, making it a nightmare to try and find your way. Characters are as lifeless as they get, rarely blinking, and their faces just look plain weird. Highway Police Simulator is out on PlayStation 5 with a $39.99 price tag.
