Killing Time: Resurrected from Nightdive Studios and Ziggurat Interactive brings us a new take on a classic, gruesome first-person shooter. Killing Time from Studio 3DO was originally released for the 3DO console by The 3DO Company way back in 1995. If you’re unfamiliar with it, the 3DO was a disc-based console that was first manufactured by Panasonic, with later versions also being manufactured by companies such as Goldstar and Sanyo. It was promoted as a multimedia piece of hardware, with a focus on marketing the 3DO as a gaming console following soon after. It was on the market up until 1996.

In Killing Time, you’ll be taking on the role of a former Egyptology student who must explore the estate of a wealthy heiress on Martinicus Isle, Maine. Heiress Tess Conway activated an ancient Egyptian water clock that could allegedly grant eternal life. Unfortunately, the device made her and some of her socialite friends vanish in a blink. It’s now up to you to search everywhere as you try to find the items scattered around the island that contain Tess’ essence so that you can help her regain her physical form… by any means necessary. This is why you’ll be using the weapons you find to take care of all enemies. It’s kill or be killed!
With Killing Time: Resurrected being the definitive edition, we’ll be able to take advantage of some 2024 enhancements. These include using a skybox for the top of the screen, using upgraded lighting, using hi-res textures for a shiny look, using the 3DO actors for the different enemies you’ll run into, choosing to have the classic weapon balance, activating autoaim in order to have an easier time, or have the game auto-change for you on ammo pickup, on new weapons, if out of ammo, or never There’s also a cheats menu, but do know that activating any of the cheats will disable all trophies – more on these in a bit. The cheats include God Mode, Demigod Mode, No Clip, Infinite Powerups, Rats Mode, and All Map.

You’ll move with the left analog stick as you use the right one to look around and aim. You can sprint by pressing and holding down the L2 button – unless you activate the “Always Run” feature from the menu. Press the X button to jump and the Circle button to crawl. To attack, just press the R2 button. Switch between weapons as needed by pressing the L1 and R1 buttons. There’s an automap feature that you can take advantage of by pressing the Touchpad on the DualSense controller. Switch between items by pressing left or right on the D-Pad, and use an item by pressing the Triangle. You can also make good use of the motion sensor function on the DualSense if you want to!
Trophy-wise, this game has a full trophy list with a Platinum trophy waiting for you at the end of your journey. The trophy list is split into 2 Bronze trophies, 2 Silver trophies, and 10 Gold trophies for you to work. To have a chance of adding a new shiny Platinum trophy to your collection, you’ll need to obtain all Winged Vessels in a single run, obtain all keys in a single run, find all six Egyptian power-up artifacts in a single run, kill five enemies at once with the Ankh of Ramses, navigate through the hedge maze, collect all weapons in a single run, kill every single clon in the mansion, defeat Duncan five times, kill ten enemies with melee weapons, destroy Tess Conway, find the Bathouse of Osiris, visit everywhere on the island, complete the game in under two hours, and find the developer room.
