Ice Sitruuna is ready to go on PlayStation 5. Is it one worth checking out? The game places you in the role of Erza, who managed to earn the legendary hunter license a couple of years ago. It’s now time for you to go on a new adventure as you lead an exploration team, taking on new locations in this 2.5D experience and trying to find the secrets that they hold. What treasures will you find? Which types of monsters will you battle? You’re about to find out!
Once you start this new adventure, you’ll control Erza with the left analog stick or the D-Pad, jumping with the X button and performing a dive kick by pressing down on the left analog stick or the D-Pad and the X button while jumping. Pressing down on the left analog stick or the D-Pad and the X button while on the ground will make Erza perform a slide. You can attack with the Square and Triangle buttons as needed. You can dash with the Circle button to try and avoid attacks. Artifacts will be mapped to the R2 and R1 buttons, which include the Flash Freeze Bullet, which can shoot icicles, or the Poison Bullet, which launches a magical bullet that can poison an enemy. You can switch between characters by using the right analog stick as needed. Since this one is a Metroidvania, your map will be an important tool for you to use, so be sure to check it often by using the Touchpad on the DualSense.
Some of the items that you’ll collect during this journey can be used to craft some delicious dishes. When you’re resting, you’ll be given a chance to open up your cookbook to see what ingredients you’ve found and which dishes are available to you. You could, for example, use some rice to cook a delicious porridge that can boost strength and intelligence for a bit. Another option is the vegetable soup, for which you’ll need some lettuce, some carrots, and a bit of salt. This one will give you a temporary boost to strength, intelligence, defense, and mind. You can buy additional recipes – as well as the ingredients needed for cooking them – by spending your hard-earned money.
Money can also be spent with Maruth to buy some useful equipment that can aid you on this mission. You can buy a swift White Rose rapier to attack enemies in quick succession. Another option is the Dingo, a heavy artillery ranged weapon that can make it possible to attack enemies from a safer distance. You can also buy some of the aforementioned artifacts at the merchant. There are plenty of different materials in Maruth’s stock for you to consider. Maybe you should consider buying some accessories as well? You can buy yourself a Brave Ring, which will increase your strength and intelligence, as well as the potential critical damage you can deal with your attacks. Oh, and you should probably buy some Light Combat Armor to increase your defense and magic defense!
And now, let’s talk about the game’s trophies! This release has a full trophy list with a Platinum trophy for you to work on. The list is split into 44 Bronze trophies, 7 Silver trophies, and a single Gold trophies, so there are many objectives for you to complete. These include completing the training mission, picking up the Green Keystone, killing the many bosses that the game will throw at you, experiencing the special story cutscenes, completing a dish, completing 10 dishes, crafting a piece of equipment, crafting 10 pieces of equipment, and some secret trophies that I won’t be spoiling here. There’s also a DLC Trophy Pack 1 that adds 6 separate Bronze trophies for some extra bosses to beat.
Anime-style Metroidvania Frontier Hunter: Erza’s Wheel of Fortune will have you exploring a new land once the spaceship you’re traveling on crashes from too much damage during a surprise attack. As you eventually take control of multiple characters, you’ll find new areas packed with angry local flora and fauna out to destroy you.
