Super Destronaut Landed X Loaded from Ratalaika Games and Petite Games is a very simple arcade game in which you’ll take control of a nameless character as you play through single-screen levels and fire at everything in sight while avoiding the different enemies and their attacks as you try to stay alive. It follows what Super Destronaut DX and its sequel – which, as expected, is called Super Destronaut DX 2 – did before, so if you’re familiar with those games, you know what you’re getting into.

The gameplay of Super Destronaut Landed X Loaded is as basic as it gets. You’ll move with the left analog stick or the D-Pad, pressing the X button to jump and the R2 button to fire your equipped weapon. Weapons spawn randomly and at a quick pace, so you can pick one when you’re low on ammo or if you just want to change the type of weapon you’re currently equipped with. And… that’s mostly it for the gameplay!

As your game begins, you can select the level you want to play in, but all of the ten single-screen levels are so similar to one another that it doesn’t really matter which one you choose. I did like the first one, as it was great for camping right in front of the enemy spawn point, but I would have preferred more variety in the level design or the color palette.

Being a Ratalaika Games release, you can expect to earn a quick Platinum trophy for your efforts, and since the game is Cross-Buy between the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 versions of the game, you can achieve two different Platinum trophies, each within 5 to 10 minutes. You’ll unlock trophies by trying the five different levels, obtaining 50k points (which is really easy), and the other miscellaneous trophies you’ll likely unlock naturally while working for the 50k points one. It isn’t really needed in this case, but if you’re looking for some extra help, check out this Super Destronaut Landed X Loaded Trophy Guide.

As for my general impression of the game, this one became old quickly and could be a no-brainer for trophy hunters looking to increase their trophy count, but other than that, this game didn’t have much to offer. With that being said, I enjoyed the game’s presentation, which had flashy visual effects and a fluid 60 frames per second. I also thought that the background theme was catchy. The volume is initially too high, however, and while you can lower the background music balance in the settings, I met a bug where the music came back at full sound when it loops, which left me with a feeling of the game release being rushed.

Super Destronaut Landed X Loaded PS5 Review

Super Destronaut Landed X Loaded is a simple arcade game that could please trophy hunters as you could achieve two new Platinum trophies within 15 minutes since this game is Cross-Buy. Outside of the trophies, however, I thought that it really didn’t have much to offer as there’s no strategy at all – you’ll be firing at everything around you – and the gameplay became redundant even after a few minutes. This game is sold at $6.99, and you’ll be able to download the PS4 and PS5 versions of the game at no extra cost.
