Revamped adventure game Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons Remake from 505 Games and Avantgarden is ready for you on PlayStation 5. Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons Remake was originally released on PlayStation 4 in 2013. It’s a fantasy-themed game in which two brothers set out on a quest to find a cure for their father’s illness. This is all made worse since the boys’ mother passed away after drowning. The little brother was with her on a small boat, and after she fell into the ocean, the poor kid couldn’t manage to grab her to pull her back into the boat before it was too late.

After sobbing at his mother’s grave, her ghost materializes before him and comforts him. It’s then that his bigger brother calls to him, letting him know that their father is very ill. You’ll place your father inside a cart, and as each brother grabs a side, you’ll start your journey down the path to the doctor’s house. After the brothers take their father to the doctor, they learn that this be only way to cure him is to collect the Water of Life, found near the Tree of Life.

Since there are two characters to control, you can play this one either with two players or on your own. If you decide to go solo, you’ll be controlling the big brother with the left analog stick and the little brother with the right one. For interactions, the L2 button will control big brother while the R2 button will control little brother. You can use the L1 and R1 buttons to rotate the camera left and right as needed.

What types of puzzles will you run into? To avoid spoiling things too much, I’ll talk about the intro sequence for Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons Remake. Since big brother is bigger than little brother, he’ll grab the back of the part to be able to push it, while little brother grabs the front of the cart to steer. Once you reach a platform with a lever, you should use big brother to pull it, since little brother lacks the weight or strength to make it budge. This will make the platform move over the gap, bringing you closer to the doctor’s house.

For the next step, you’ll once again need to grab the cart and move it to another platform. This one needs to be lifted by both brothers, who must activate a crank. But before they can do this, big brother will need to give little brother a lift so that he can reach the broken ladder. After that, little brother must throw down the nearby rope so that the brothers can work together on the crank. It’s then that the doctor will rush out of his house to help bring him inside, where he’ll care for him, while the brothers rush to find the cure they so desperately need. With what happened to his mom, little brother is scared of water, which is why big brother must help him by carrying him on his back to cross a small river. What happens next? You’ll have to play the game to find out!

Since the word remake is right there on the title, some stuff must have changed between the original version and this PlayStation 5 release, right? Along with the considerably revamped graphics, lighting, and shadows, the game makes great use of the haptic feedback for the DualSense. On top of that, the soundtrack has been re-recorded with an orchestra, which greatly helps to complement the story and the different events you’ll experience.

Unlike the original version from 2013, this one has a full trophy list with a Platinum trophy for you to work on. The list has 5 Silver trophies and 9 Gold trophies. To get the Platinum, you’ll have to complete some miscellaneous objectives along the way that I won’t mention here since they could end up spoiling your time with this one. I will mention that for the Platinum, completing the game is not needed. That means that if you’re familiar with the previous version and pay attention to the trophy description of the new trophies on the list, you could have a new Platinum trophy in your collection in a couple of hours (hint: one of the trophies requires that you make a sheep vomit). Since there are some missable trophies on the list, if you need some extra help, you can check out this Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons Remake.
