Edge of Reality from Sometimes You and Moon Eclipse is a visual novel in which you’ll find yourself absorbed into a supernatural journey. As Dan, the new person in charge of an old antiques store, your day-to-day now includes being around very old things… which is far from ideal since you’re sorta allergic to them. It was odd when your grandfather wanted you to manage the store instead of your sister, who is very much into objects from ages past, but, in the end, it does make sense since your grandfather thought that business management is something that should be left to male individuals who are just better at it.

His life was very monotonous until one day a stranger arrived at the shop. The woman hands over a rather peculiar brooch made of dark stone and numerous specks of amber. Oh, and it’s a piece made in the shape of a spider. You know, the usual. The first odd thing about this exchange is that when Dan asks her how much she wants for the brooch, she answers that it’s free. She only wants to give it away. By the time you return to the counter, she has signed the receipt with only a single name: Rose.

The next day – and after having a very, very bad nightmare – a handsome-looking and tall man visits the shop. He hands you over a sheet with a schematic drawing of a brooch that seems eerily familiar to you: a brooch in the shape of a spider. It was odd that someone would walk into the store the day after receiving such a peculiarly specific piece of jewelry and ask about it. It was even more odd when he offered you fifteen thousand for it! What you do next will determine how the story develops.

As mentioned before, this one is a visual novel experience. What that means is that you’ll go through a story that is presented to you with the help of various visuals for the locations you’ll explore and the characters you’ll meet, with some stories being the length of a novel. Some visual novels also feature voice acting – an expensive element for a video game – but that is not the case for Edge of Reality.

The game has a full trophy list with a Platinum trophy waiting for you once it’s all been said and done. The list includes a single Bronze trophy, 7 Silver trophies, and 9 Gold trophies for you to work on. As expected, there are some trophies tied to making specific choices along the way, as well as trophies for reaching all of the different endings. Because of this, trophy hunters might want to check out this Edge of Reality Trophy Guide.
