In puzzle game Farm Slider from 2Awesome Studio, your objective is to reproduce each farm setting you’ll be presented with. The game is minimalistic, and even the title screen is mostly a case of “What You See Is What You Get,” as it also includes the levels list. Progressing through the levels unlocks more in a linear way.
As far as the gameplay goes, your objective in each level is to reproduce the farm on the right by moving the scrambled tiles on the left. As the levels progress, the difficulty increases, but it always stays manageable. I did have a gripe with the isometric angle, and I thought that the controls needed some adjustments because the direction you wanted to move a piece didn’t match the direction pressed on the D-Pad, which often led to moving a piece to an unwanted place. As I progressed through the puzzles, they eventually felt redundant, which might be an issue for you.
The presentation of this game was where most of my disappointment with this experience came in. It looks like it was made 15 years ago in a low resolution, and it was scaled up to Full HD – check the screenshots included in this Farm Slider review to give you an idea. The textures throughout the whole game are blurry, and so is any of the displayed text. Given how simple this game is, the dated presentation was very disappointing on both the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 versions. The soundtrack is relaxing, although it felt repetitive.
On the trophies side, you can expect to obtain a fairly quick new Platinum trophy by playing every level in this game. Since the game is Cross-Buy between the PS4 and PS5 versions, you can obtain a second Platinum trophy if you’re motivated to complete this game twice. The list includes 2 Silver trophies and 11 Gold trophies for you to work on. Here’s a Farm Slider Trophy Guide to help you get through the levels.
Farm Slider is a minimalistic puzzler on PlayStation. While the puzzles were fun at first, they felt redundant as the game progressed further. The gameplay felt imprecise due to the isometric angle, and the low resolution affected my interest in the game. Farm Slider is available on the PlayStation Store for $4.99.
