Tilting Tiles: Micro Challenge is the latest minimalist puzzle game from TreeFall Studios. It’s a budget release at only $0.49. It takes what previous Tilting Tiles titles did, such as Tilting Tiles: Ultimate Tiles Remix, while adding new elements. There are new terrain tiles and new movement options that will help to keep this one feeling fresh. What’s the new ability you’ll have to consider? You’ll be able to change sizes!

The basic gameplay mechanics remain the same, so you’ll be moving a red square around each level to collect all crystals before running out of moves. You’ll be switching between moving a single space, moving over two spaces in one go, moving diagonally, tilting the platform to one side or the other to get some of the trickier crystals, or making good use of teleporters to get through each level in the most efficient way possible. You can tilt left and right by using the L1 and R1 buttons. The new gameplay element is changing sizes, which is done by pressing the Circle button. And if you’re ever stuck or think that you’ve made one too many mistakes, you can press the Triangle button to reset the level.

As was the case for the other Tilting Tiles games, there’s a Platinum trophy for you to work on adding to your collection. The list includes 5 Bronze trophies, 8 Silver trophies, and 8 Gold trophies that you’ll need to obtain before that Platinum trophy is added to your virtual trophy case. All trophies are tied to completing specific levels in X moves or less. Because of this, you might want to check out this Tilting Tiles: Micro Challenge Trophy Guide.

Tilting Tiles: Micro Challenge PS4 Review - 3

Tilting Tiles: Micro Challenge brings us 20 new levels to take on, hence the Micro Challenge part of the equation. If you enjoyed playing through the previous two games in the series, buying this one is a no-brainer. And if you’re new to the series, this one is a good jumping-on point since it’s a shorter, smaller puzzle experience with a good variety of gameplay elements without feeling a bit overwhelming. And you can even play on some multiplayer levels in local co-op! Tilting Tiles: Micro Challenge is out on PlayStation 4 at a low price of only $0.49.
