Montgomery Fox and the Case for the Diamond Necklace from Ocean Media is a hidden object game on PS5. You’ll be playing as the titular character, who has to explore 60 levels with hundreds of hidden objects to find so that he can eventually locate the missing diamond necklace. The game’s story will be presented by way of a comic-book-style cutscene, in which each panel will allow you to learn more and more about Montgomery Fox and the case at hand.
This very valuable diamond necklace was stolen from Lord Racoon of the Hisar County. Since the thief has not been found, Toad and Toad is facing bankruptcy due to the huge amount of money. This is why they’ve turned to hire Montgomery Fox to give it one last go in hopes of him solving the case. Your journey will begin at Meadow Brook Manor, where you’ll have a talk with Lord Racoon of Hisar County to try and find some information that might set you on the right path.
For this one, you’ll move a cursor around the screen with the left analog stick or the right on, with the left analog stick moving it at a faster pace. You can also go into the settings menu and select the sensitivity for this virtual cursor as needed so that you can find what works for you. You must find a pair of special items, as well as a series of other objects listed at the bottom of the screen for that scene. If you’re stuck, there’s a hint feature that you can use, but it’s on a cooldown so that you don’t end up spamming it over and over.
Along with the hidden objects levels – for which, once completed, you’ll gain a special collectible for your collection – there are also some mini-games for you to work your way through. These include a memory game in which you must match pairs of objects, another one in which you must sort objects by moving around each row and column until things feel just right, and one that asks that you rotate the pieces on the screen in order to reveal the hidden image. Oh, and there’s also one for finding the differences between two images!
Trophy-wise, this one, unfortunately, does not include a Platinum trophy, which certainly feels a bit odd! The list does include 8 Bronze trophies, 3 Silver trophies, and 3 Gold trophies for you to work on. The objectives to complete include completing a hidden objects scene in under 90, 180, and 300 seconds, finishing each of the different mini-games at least once, grabbing all collectibles – which are unmissable since you’ll get all of them as you progress through the game, use hints a total of 50 times, and completing the game. Montgomery Fox and the Case for the Diamond Necklace offers a classic hidden object experience for you to enjoy on PlayStation 5.
