Cuddly Forest Friends from Aksys Games is a colorful cute, all-ages party game on Nintendo Switch. For this one, you’ll need to work on providing as many Happy Feelings as possible to the mighty Tree of Happiness so that it can continue to grow strong. You’ll do this as you take on 15 minigames, cheer on, and care for the adorable animal companions that will partake in the activities: Rabbit, Degu, Flying Squirrel, Capybara, Mouse, Porcupine, Hamster, Beaver, and Squirrel.
All of the animals were minding their own business when they noticed a letter dropped. Inside, they found a seed. The letter asks that they plant it and take care of it so that a tree can grow from it by feeding it with all of their happy feelings. The more happiness there is, the bigger the tree will grow, so you’ll need to make sure that all of your friends are super happy!
To make your friends happy, you should feed them delicious food, pet them so that they feel good, give them what they want… and play with them! You can also help them succeed in the jobs they were given. You’ll be moving a hand cursor around the screen with the left analog stick and can poke your friends to sometimes make them happier. The right analog stick can be used to move the camera around as needed.
What if one of them is hungry? Then you’ll have to fill up its tummy! When the hunger gauge is empty, you need to go into the food menu and feed one of your friends until their belly is full. And if you give someone their favorite food, they will like you a lot. If one of your friends is in a bad mood, you should cheer them up by interacting with them. You can pet that friend to increase its happiness so that you can fill up the heart gauge on the upper left corner of the screen so that it becomes satisfied.
Sometimes they will want to talk, which is the perfect time to give them gift accessories and decorations. Maybe you’ll need to give someone a Red Wreath for fashion. If that is the case, then you need to give it the Red Wreath by way of the Dress-Up feature. Thanks to that, they can wear accessories on their head, neck, or body. What if Squirrel needs an Exercise Wheel decoration? Then you’ll need to find one piece of lumber, so you’ll have to send a furry friend or two to gather some materials. While someone is gathering materials, you can cheer on them so that they do a better job, which can reward you with bonus materials!
Once you have the required materials, you’ll have to choose some of your friends to craft them. While they’re crafting at the workbench, you can also cheer on them to motivate them. Cheering has three levels, so the better you do while cheering, the better their performance. After crafting something, you’ll have to select to redecorate the area so that you can place the new item.
All work and no play is not how your furry friends want to do things, so you’ll also have to participate in some minigames to gain some extra Happiness Points and make your friends relax and unwind. As you complete minigames, you will get some Furry Friend Stamps for your efforts. Once you earn ten stamps, you’ll be able to unlock a new minigame! At first, the four games that will be available are Shaky Barrel Split, Fluffy Space Race, Fruit Night, and Smoot Fruit Nibble.
For Shaky Barrel Split, you’ll have to break three barrels to find apples. You’ll have to pay attention to what your furry pet is telling you so that you can avoid bad barrels. The more apples you find inside a barrel, the more points you’ll get. The furry friend who has the most points at the end of the match wins! In Fruit Night, you’ll have to nibble the fallen fruit and get the right one based on the sign at the top of the screen to get max points. You can also fight for fruit to gain bonus points!
