Puzzletronics: Digital Infinite from QUByte Interactive and Naoka Games is a jigsaw puzzle game in which all of the pieces are already available on the board, and you must rearrange them to form logic circuit boards. This might seem technical – and it kinda is – but the game itself makes it very easy to understand how each circuit piece works even if you have no prior electronic components knowledge.
The first levels explain the basics and are easy enough that you will be able to complete them without issue. The main goal of each level is to light the LED at the end of the circuit board by sending it current. As you can guess, each piece will affect how the current moves, so you’ll have to figure out which piece goes where. Speaking of the pieces, you’ll have to manage Buttons, Not Gates, Or Gates, Nor Gates, V Forks, and more. One of the things I noticed while progressing is that in most of the puzzles, there is more than one way to complete them, which is always great.
The gameplay itself is very easy to get the hang of, and the game has a good difficulty curve. I was able to breeze through the first 30 levels or so, and then things went into high gear. The general disposition of each puzzle is also a clue and will help determine which piece goes where. One of my daughters was watching me play, and as I was completing a puzzle and saying. “okay, I just need to flick this switch, and bam, it works,” she was completely left out and didn’t understand the core mechanics.
On the presentation side, this game is very minimalistic, and there is only a PlayStation 4 version. I played the game on my PlayStation 5, and thanks to its SSD, there was only a loading screen that was (very) briefly shown between each level. Going from the screenshots, what you see is what you get. The soundtrack is composed of melancholic piano melodies, which helps to make this a chill experience.
This game features a Platinum trophy that can be relatively quick to earn if you are following a trophy guide. The trophies are simply awarded for completing puzzles up to level 110. Using a guide, you can expect to finish this Platinum in around one hour. Otherwise, it might take up to 3-4 hours, depending on your understanding of circuit logic boards. Puzzletronics: Digital Infinite is a minimalistic but fun puzzle game that is exactly of the what you see is what you get variety. There’s nothing more and nothing less than what is shown in the game’s screenshots or the trailer. As a circuit logic board enthusiast myself, I liked playing this game, but I could see some people being completely confused with the gameplay. Puzzletronics: Digital Infinite is out on PlayStation 4 with a $3.99 asking price.
