[PS4Blog.net Interview] Castle Pixel On Blossom Tales II

by EdEN, Owner

We’ll be working on a review for Blossom Tales II, so I got in touch with Castle Pixel to talk a bit about the game’s development. Come check it out!

PS4Blog: Good morning! Thank you for joining us today. Could you please help us get started by telling our readers a bit about yourself and your work?

Hello! I am Tyler, programmer and designer at Castle Pixel. This is our 3rd game. Previous releases include Rex Rocket and Blossom Tales: The Sleeping King.

PS4B: On that note, Blossom Tales II: The Minotaur Prince is ready to go on Nintendo Switch. What can you tell us about the sequel to the excellent Blossom Tales?

In Blossom Tales II, Grandpa shares another charming story with his grandkids set hundreds of years after The Sleeping King. In The Minotaur Prince, siblings Chrys and Lily get into a fight that results in the return of the evil Minotaur King. Lily must explore new lands while collecting an arsenal of items and weapons.

PS4B: How long did it take to develop Blossom Tales II? How did working on its prequel help you to streamline the process and avoid some of the issues you ran into during the development of Blossom Tales?

It took us little under a year and a half to develop. Knowing what players loved (and didn’t like) from the first game was key in helping us develop a better experience while avoiding similar pitfalls. It also helps on the technical side that Blossom Tales 1 was the last game we made.

PS4B: This time around you’re working with Playtonic Friends as your publisher. How did this collaboration come to be?

Playtonic were big fans of Blossom Tales and they reached out to us with interest in making the sequel. They’ve all been amazing to work with and always showed genuine excitement for Lily’s new adventure.

PS4B: Blossom Tales got a physical release on Nintendo Switch, so I was wondering if the same is in the cards for Blossom Tales II.

Yes! There will be a physical release provided by Limited Run Games. We don’t have a date yet, but it is coming!

PS4B: And that’s all the time we have for today. Is there something else you’d like to add before we go?

I just want to thank everyone for supporting Blossom Tales! This sequel would never have happened without the first game’s success, so we hope fans see the added love and gratitude we put into making The Minotaur Prince our best game yet!
