Warshmallows Review - 1

Warshmallows from YouRun and Bonus Stage Publishing is a 2D online or local arena battle game on Nintendo Switch. You’re going to have to run, jump, dash, and blast all of your opponents to be able to win all the golden donuts. The game can be played in 1v1, 2v2, or an all-out free-for-all at home with friends or against gamers from around the world to show how good you really are. It’s a fast-paced game where anyone can win the match depending on skills and certainly a little bit of luck.

Warshmallows Review - 2

If the game’s name – and the screens in this Warshmallows review – haven’t clued you in, this one features different character that are variations on a fluffy marshmallow. While they all share similar basic skills and attacks, each one features a special superpower ability to set them apart. You’ll pick your favorite, deck it out, and then duke it out on the 2D arenas as you try to be the last one standing. There’s a sense of urgency as you take on each map since everyone will be shooting at everyone else… as long as they have enough ammo left! Ran out of ammo, and there are no power-ups nearby? Then press the L button and slap anyone who gets too close for comfort!

You’ll control your character with the left analog stick or the D-Pad, aiming with the right one as needed. You can jump, double jump, and triple jump with the B button and use your jetpack with the A button to fly around for a bit. You can also dash by pressing the X button. To shoot at your opponents, just press the R button. Your character’s special superpower ability can be activated with the Y button. You can also jump into the Training Room to practice so that you can improve your gaming skills. While there, you’ll be joined by Chindrella, the G.O.D. of the Warshmallows. She’ll walk you through all of the basics so that you can be ready for the fast-paced and hectic action of Warshmallows.

Once all gamers are ready to go, everyone will get to vote on what map they want to play in, with each one having a different layout and some nuances to consider. When playing online, based on your performance during matches, you will be rewarded with some experience points (XP). XP will allow you to level up as you increase your presence in the global leaderboard. If you complete missions, you’ll get to unlock new gear, as well as new maps for you to play around in!

Warshmallows Review - 3

Warshmallow is a fun and colorful all-ages 2D arena battle game that is easy to pick up but hard to master. You can quickly get the hang of things, but the more you play, the more you’ll learn about what really makes this game tick. Even when you’re defeated and end up being bubbled, you can continue to play and roll around as you try to get revenge on whoever dealt the final blow by reflecting any bullets that come your way or pushing them around into danger. Warshmallows is out on Nintendo Switch with a $9.99 asking price.
