[PS4Blog.net Interview] Al-link On Queeny Army

by EdEN, Owner

We’re working on a review for Queeny Army, so I got in touch with Al-link to talk a bit about the game. Come check it out!

PS4Blog: Good morning! Welcome to PS4Blog.net. Can you please introduce yourself to our readers and tell them a bit about yourself and your work?

Hello, I am Al-link, a Mexican solo indie game developer from Mexico City. I make retro pixel art video games. My first public game is Queeny Army, and I’m currently developing more games.

PS4B: On that note, Queeny Army is out now on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch. What can you tell us about this game?

The game was made thinking about many ideas I had in the past. I am a fan of the run ‘n gun genre, and my big dream was to one day make a game in the genre, taking the classic ideas and mixing them with new features.

That is Queeny Army, a run ‘n gun game similar to Contra, where you have to overthrow the corrupt government in San Romero City. This is basically a Contra-like game with some features from other classic games such as Mega Man, Ninja Gaiden, and the NES version of Batman. You have several selectable characters – all girls- who escaped from a adoption home after an incident caused by part of that corrupt government.

PS4B: How long did it take to develop the game? Are there any differences between the Steam and console versions?

This game took two years of development to launch an early access version on PC (Steam). That version changed a lot over the following year, with many improvements to its features and new gameplay mechanics. After that, I contacted Eastasiasoft with the latest version of the game to port it to consoles. The game was fortunately approved, and this is how Queeny Army comes to consoles with the latest version of the game.

PS4B: How goes work on Worship Power? Anything you can share with us?

I’ve stopped its development for now, but the game stands at around 10% of development. I need a bigger budget to make a better game than what I had planned because it is a Metroidvania game. Instead, I am developing the Queeny Army sequel, as well as another surprise game!

PS4B: And now it’s time for us to go. Is there something else you’d like to add?

As you know, I am a solo indie game developer, so if you want to support me, please buy my first game so that I can bring you more and better games. If you trust my work, I will never let you down. You can also check the PC version, which is fully supported by me. If you find any issues with the console versions, please contact Eastasiasoft for support. Thank you very much for your attention, and thank you for being interested in my game. I really appreciate it!
