Dreaming Sarah from Ratalaika Games and Asteristic Game Studio is a surreal 2D puzzle-platforming adventure on PS4. Learn more in our Dreaming Sarah review!
In Dreaming Sarah from Ratalaika Games and Asteristic Game Studio, you’ll be taking on a surreal 2D puzzle-platforming adventure on PS4. You’ll be controlling the titular Sarah, who has been in an unfortunate accident and is currently in a coma. Your task is to help Sarah wake up so that she can recover from her current condition. As you explore the dream-like world she now inhabits, you’ll get to meet some peculiar characters, as well as collect many items from her memories, which will sometimes change the gameplay as well!
You’ll be moving Sarah around with the left analog stick or the D-Pad, jumping with the X button. Once you find the umbrella – the first item in the game, which is located to the left of your starting spot – you can press and hold down the X button to have your character glide after jumping, thus slowing down her fall while making it possible to clear wider gaps. You’re going to find seven other items that will add to the gameplay mechanics, which you can equip as needed by pressing the Circle button to open the radial menu. You can interact with other characters and items by pressing the Square button.
If you’re ever feeling lost and have no idea of where you need to go next, you can make good use of one of the items that you can collect and equip: the compass! Once you’ve equipped it, the compass will always point at something important, so you’ll know that heading in that direction will allow you to progress a bit in the game’s story. Because of this, once you obtain the compass, you should immediately make sure that you activate it to make the most of its great benefits.
Since this one is from Ratalaika Games, that means you can expect it to have a full trophy list with a Platinum trophy at the end of your journey. Trophies will pop for this one at a steady pace since you’ll get a trophy for each of the items that you collect – an umbrella, a shell necklace, a compass, a pill, a watch, a bag of seeds, a hat, a juice box, a heart-shaped key, an ID card and more. There are also five trophies that are tied to the game’s hidden secrets, and then a trophy for completing the game. Get all of these, and you’ll have a new Platinum in your collection! Do be aware that if you miss the secret areas, you will miss the trophies tied to them, so you’ll have to do a new run.
Dreaming Sarah is a fun 2D platforming adventure with some bizarre and surreal locations that will take you through the world of the titular character as she wanders through her mind during her coma. There are many unique characters to interact with, several items to find, and a Platinum trophy to unlock as you try to help bring Sarah’s mind back into the real world. Dreaming Sarah is out on PlayStation 4 with a low $4.99 asking price.
