In Rated M for Mature Drunken Fist from eastasiasoft and Deklazon, you’ll be taking on a weird physics-based 3D beat ‘em up in which you’ll have a drunk under your command. Because of this, you’ll have to wrestle with the game’s controls to get him where you want him to, trying to keep him from falling to the ground for no reason other than he’s completely wasted. You’ll often miss with your attacks, leaving yourself wide open to a counterattack, which is why you should always try to find some burgers you can eat with the D-Pad so that you can regain some of your lost health. The same goes for collecting bottles since you will need to constantly be drunk to complete the game’s seven stages.
You’ll walk with the left analog stick as you stumble around from your drunk status. You can punch with the Square button, performing a kick with the X button. You can also dodge – slowly – with the Triangle button. Combining the L1 or R1 button with the Square, X, and Circle buttons will perform a low punch, uppercut, and punch combo, respectively. Doing this with the L2 or R2 buttons will unleash a low kick, a jumping kick, or a double kick. You also have a powerful sweep that will act as your special attack. The camera can also be moved with the right analog stick so that you can hopefully find a better angle to attack your opponents. Oh, and once your urine bar is full, you can press down on the D-Pad to pee, which can make your enemies slip and receive damage.
The trophies for Drunken Fist shouldn’t give you much trouble since you’ll unlock most of them by completing the first three stages in the game. For the rest, I suggest that you replay the first stage since you’ll be farming for extra bottles and burgers so that you can drink and eat them, as well as defeat some extra enemies to meet the pending requirements. Because of all this, you can probably get the Platinum trophy in a couple of hours at most.
Drunken Fist is a short physics-based 3D indie beat ‘em up with a minimalist art style and a drunk character that sometimes refuses to do what you need him to do. It’s entertaining at its low $7.99 asking price, but it’s definitely not for everyone.
