In Endless Fables: Dark Moor from Artifex Mundi, you will take on a new point and click adventure on PlayStation 4 with a supernatural twist. You play as Pamela Cavendish, a world-famous anthropologist. You travel to northern Scotland to your niece’s birthday, but what was supposed to be a joyful celebration turned into a race against the clock when Nora is kidnapped by a banshee! You follow the banshee into a haunted house during a rising Red Moon, and must solve a series of puzzles to save her before it’s too late!
You will control a cursor on the screen with the left analog stick, using the right one to carefully move it at a slower pace when you need to find something. You can interact with things with the X button and will collect a variety of items that will be added to your inventory. You can open up your inventory with the L2 or R2 buttons so that you can inspect objects and sometimes combine them with others. If you’re ever stuck, you can check your map by pressing left on the D-Pad or press up to activate a hint that will point you in the right direction.
The first thing that will grab your attention is the gorgeous artwork for Endless Fables: Dark Moor. Everything looks great and just pops thanks to the colorful presentation of this hidden object adventure game. Every scene has a lot to offer, with a haunted mansion covered in cobwebs, skeletons from past adventurers, the doom and gloom of the moon shining over a pond as you spot the banshee in the corner of your eye, or a coffin that is hiding many secrets that might help you find Nora.
In Endless Fables: Dark Moor, Pamela has a very special amulet she can use to defeat the supernatural entities she will find during her journey. Once you activate it to, say, battle a stuffed bear that seems to have been possessed by a powerful entity, you will need to use the dreamcatcher to tap on the symbols that do not match any of the symbols floating around said stuffed bear. Do this for three rounds, and you will be victorious. There will be other monsters for you to battle, and yes, you’ll eventually have to face the banshee.
As has been the case for other games from Artifex Mundi, you can expect to have a full trophy list for Endless Fables: Dark Moor. Several of the trophies will be awarded for progressing through the game, marking the milestones you complete. There will also be trophies tied to completing a hidden object puzzle in 90 seconds or less, completing one without making any mistakes, completing all of them without using a single hint, and for not skipping any of the minigames in the game, to name some examples.
Endless Fables: Dark Moor is a fun point and click hidden object adventure on PS4. It offers a handful of hours-worth of content, as well as a shorter bonus story to take on after you’ve completed the game. You will be searching for pumpkins and morphing objects in every area you visit, so be sure to pay attention so that you don’t have to do a second playthrough!
