Hidden Through Time is a new puzzle game in the vein of the classic Where’s Waldo books. You are presented with a large tableau and are tasked with finding objects hidden around your screen. It’s a neat idea, and something I definitely wanted to review since I loved the Where’s Waldo books when I was a kid, so I was curious to see how that experience translated to a video game.

So, the majority of the gameplay for this game will have you searching around each picture as you look for all the hidden items. In the early stages of history, (you are traveling forward through time), you are presented with a fairly small area to search and a small number of items to find. The difficulty will quickly ramp up, with more items to find, and more complex areas that do a great job of hiding the objects. You will soon have massive maps with tons of content to search through. Having said that, this is honestly one of the most relaxing game experiences I’ve had. You can move around the map, zooming in and out to take a closer look, and click on buildings to see what’s inside. You can interact with objects, which may reveal what you’re searching for. Honestly, this is just a very Zen-style chill game.

What I thought was surprising was the way the developers weaved a narrative through the game. There are hints here and there with text about what’s going on and how things are evolving, but the art itself tells the story in interesting ways, and you definitely want to pay attention to it. Just a nice little hidden gem that you should defiinitely add to your collection.

Visually the game is so distinct and stands out with its art style, and it’s the use of color. It has this superb hand-drawn look, and everything has a feel that makes things just pop. Hidden Through Time is a visual delight as you search around each level. The music is very chill as well, which is definitely what you want in a game like this. Be sure to check out Hidden Through Time on Nintendo Switch!

I really enjoyed my time with Hidden Through Time. It’s unlike any other game I’ve played. I loved being able tp play it on the TV or take it on the go on my Nintendo Switch, since it’s the perfect game for lunch breaks, and for when you just need a palate cleanser between titles.
