[PS4Blog.net Interview] Kumi Souls Games On The Last Faith | PS4Blog.net
Kumi Souls Games has launched a crowdfunding campaign for their Metroidvania The Last Faith, so I got in touch with brothers Duilio and Riccardo to talk a bit about the game. Come check it out!
PS4B: Hi! Welcome to PS4Blog.net. Could you please introduce yourself to our readers?
The Last Faith is an exploration-based Metroidvania, action side-scrolling platformer with dark and gothic horror themes at its core. The project was born from our passion for gothic architecture and arts. We want to create an experience where people have to feel what means living in an epoch full of mysteries and terrifying environments. For example, living in a gothic city or walking through an ancient street where strange creatures or bad inhuman experiments ambush you.
We really wanted to create a new unique experience by combining some of the classic elements such as deep exploration and satisfying action combats, which is supported by different magic spells and abilities. We are also creating a highly detailed pixel art to enjoy the experience of a gothic world while playing the game, not only with backgrounds and landscapes but also with the multiple different statues and ornaments.
PS4B: The game has now reached its main funding goal, so I was wondering if you had any plans for additional stretch goals.
Yes, and that’s amazing. We were not expecting to get funded so quickly. We will infinitely thank our backers for this opportunity! And yes, this is not the end, but the start. We indeed prepared lots of exciting and stretching goals! We started by revealing two of them, a “Boss Mode” and “extra buff powers,” for our main character, Eric, to play with. We have now reached them, plus another goal for “New Game +.” This is just amazing, and we can’t wait to reveal more!
PS4B: How long have you been working on The Last Faith? How much longer will you need to work on the game’s development for its console release?
If we want to include everything like exploring the basic themes and creating the first pixel art concepts, it has been two years! We should also mention that we have been working part-time on this, just right after our day jobs, and that’s hard. Our passion for this project kept us moving in the right direction. Our target date is to release the game in Q3 2021, so we got a whole year and a few months to iterate on our milestones.
PS4B: And now its time for us to go. Would you like to add anything else?
Thanks for the opportunity to be with your splendid audience. We also want to say thanks to our backers once again, and we will make sure The Last Faith will be a great experience!
