We’re doing a review for HyperParasite, so we got in touch with Troglobyte Games CEO Saverio Caporusso to talk about the game’s journey to consoles. Come check it out!
PS4Blog: Hi! Welcome back to PS4Blog.net. How are you doing today?
We’re doing great, if ‘great’ means being quarantined and working from home for three weeks and counting, but yeah, our families and we are safe, so it’s all good 🙂
PS4B: It’s been almost a year and a half since the Kickstarter campaign for HyperParasite, and you’ve now announced that the game will be releasing next month on PS4 and Nintendo Switch.
Exactly. Our Kickstarter campaign didn’t reach its goal, but we kept pushing, along with the support of our co-publisher Hound Picked Games, and launched HyperParasite in Early Access on Steam. It’s been there for a whole year, and this helped us to better shape the game thanks to the invaluable help and feedback of players and friends. The time has finally come to release this baby into the world, so we’re releasing it this Friday on Steam, DRM-free, as well as on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
PS4B: How has the game changed and evolved between the playable Pre-Alpha that was made available during the Kickstarter for HyperParasite, and the version we’ll get to play in April?
It’s changed a lot. Tons of new mechanics and quality of life (QOL) improvements have been introduced since then. The balancing is another aspect that has been hammered all the way through the Early Access phase. We think the game now fully reflects what we originally envisioned in terms of gaming experience, difficulty, etc.
PS4B: Considering the genre for HyperParasite and its 1980s nature, are you considering developing any additional content for the game to release either as paid DLC or as a free content update?
The game is modular by its own nature, so we could design DLC with additional character classes, new levels, new bosses, etc. But it’s up to the players since we first need to know what they think of version 1.0!
PS4B: Thanks for doing this interview. Would you like to add anything else?
Thank you for the opportunity! I’d like to add just one thing: please support indie games and content creators!
