We’ll be doing a review for Castle Crashers Remastered on Nintendo Switch, so I got in touch with The Behemot to talk a bit about the game. Come check it out!
PS4Blog: Good morning! Thank you for joining us at PS4Blog.net. Could you please introduce yourself to our readers and tell them a bit about your work?
Hi, my name’s Dan Paladin, and I make art, animation and design games for The Behemoth. You might know my work from Alien Hominid, Castle Crashers, BattleBlock Theater, or Pit People. In short, I like making cute, deadly, and simple stuff that spans across different game genres.
PS4B: Speaking of that, Castle Crashers Remastered is set for release this month on Nintendo Switch! How would you describe the game to someone who’s never heard about it?
Castle Crashers is a 2D beat ’em up adventure that lets you power up skills and customize your gear. You can play it online or offline with up to four friends!
PS4B: How long did it take the team to complete this port? Where there any particular hurdles or challenges you had to overcome?
The conversion took about a year in total. Things took a bit of time, but went smoothly, thank goodness! The only thing I can remember us scratching our heads over was the Joy-Con layout, but we figured it out — and now you can play the game using one Joy-Con or two!
PS4B: The game is also on its way to the PlayStation 4. Are there any differences between that and the Nintendo Switch version?
The differences have everything to do with the console-specific features. If you want to go portable, you can bring Castle Crashers along if you undock your Nintendo Switch. If you want your controller to glow on PS4, the controllers will happily match your knight (and there’s a Platinum trophy!).
PS4B: Are you considering bringing other games to PS4 or the Nintendo Switch?
We’d love to get our games on as many platforms as realistically possible, but we’ve got a lot of projects to balance, too. Can’t promise anything yet!
PS4B: And that’s all the time we have for today. Is there something else you’d like to add before we go?
Many thanks to anyone who has ever supported us through purchases or word of mouth. You have made our dreams come true for the last 16.5 years! We also have new Castle Crashers figurines and merch coming to our online store if you’re interested, so be sure to check them out!
