We’ll be working on a review for Bow to Blood: Last Captain Standing, so I got in touch with Tribetoy to talk a bit about the game and its development. Come check it out!
PS4Blog: Welcome to PS4Blog.net! Thank you for joining us this morning. Can you please introduce yourself to our readers?
Hi, I’m Matthew Hoesterey, Design Director at Tribetoy, a small five-person indie studio.
PS4B: Bow to Blood: Last Captain Standing is hitting PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch in April. How would you describe the game to someone who’s never heard about it?
In Bow To Blood, you become a Captain! Fly your ship and command your crew as you compete to become Champion in a winner-takes-all reality show. The gameplay combines intense action gameplay with strategy and resource management aspects of games with FTL and throws in diplomacy to boot. To become a champion you’ll need to survive the vote at the end of each match. To do that you not only need to be good at flying your ship, repelling boarders, and commanding your crew but you’ll need to manipulate the other challengers, earning their support while plotting the perfect moment to turn the tables on them. Each season of Bow to Blood is unique with randomized content and a story created by you and your actions, so you’ll be able to play the game over and over again.
PS4B: How long has the team been working on the game? Has the overall scope and design changed from the concept phase to the game we’ll soon get to play?
We have been working on the game for about two years. The core concept of “Air Pirate reality show” has been with us from the beginning, but every platform presented a unique set of challenges and strengths we were able to take advantage of. The game really has been optimized for each platform, including the control schemem giving the players a great experience regardless of how they decide to play.
PS4B: Could you please share the game’s PlayStation 4 trophy list with our readers?
Sure, you can find all of the game’s trophies right here!
PS4B: And that’s all the time we have for today. Is there something else you’d like to share before we go?
Our small team put a lot of love into Bow To Blood: Last Captain Standing and we’ve created something really unique that you won’t be able to find anywhere. We hope people will check the game out when it comes to PS4/PSVR, Nintendo Switch, Xbox, Oculus, and Steam in April!
