We’re doing a review for Hook, so I got in touch with Rainbow train to talk a bit about its development for the Nintendo Switch. Come check it out!
PS4Blog: Good morning! Thank you for taking the time to join us. Could you help us get started by telling our readers a bit about yourself and your work?
Hello! My name is Maciej Targoni, and I create puzzle games.
PS4B: Hook is now out on Nintendo Switch. How would you describe the game to someone who’s never heard about it?
Its a puzzle game about removing hooks and lines from a screen in a relaxing manner.
PS4B: How long did it take to port the game to Nintendo’s hybrid console? Where there any particular hurdles or challenges you had to overcome?
Not really! It took me a week of work in total. I just had to add controller support. The game is made in Unity, so all the tools that I needed were there.
PS4B: With Hook out on Nintendo Switch, are you considering bringing some of your other puzzle games to the console?
I’m not sure yet. My other games are using directional swipes and precise drag rotations, I will have to check how these types of controls work with controllers.
I don’t want to port games that were designed with touch/mouse in mind.
PS4B: And that’s all the time we have for today. Is there something else you’d like to add before we go?
Thank you for checking out Hook! Means a lot to me 🙂
