We’re working on a review for Ultra Space Battle Brawl, so I got in touch with Mojiken to talk about the game’s development for its Nintendo Switch release. Come check it out!
PS4Blog: Hi! Thank you for taking the time to do this interview. Could you get us started by telling our readers a bit about yourself and your work?
Hello, my name is Eka. I’m the 2D artist/game designer/CEO of a little studio based in Surabaya called Mojiken. I’m the creator of Ultra Space Battle Brawl.
PS4B: Ultra Space Battle Brawl is out on Nintendo Switch. How would you describe the game to someone who’s never heard about it?
Ultra Space Battle Brawl is a frantic competitive intergalactic baseball fighting game. To put it simply, it’s a mix of Pong and fighting game and infused with steroids. It is my personal love letter to the fighting game genre, which was my reason to delve into the game industry. It is filled with many vernacular references from my hometown and a lot of comical relieves that will surely create a whole lot of fun moments, alone or with your friends.
PS4B: How long did it take to develop the game for its Nintendo Switch release? Any particular hurdle or challenge you had to overcome during the process?
It took 1 year + 3 months to finish the game. The greatest challenge of the development is actually to bring the devkit to my home country. It requires several processes before we got our hands on it and start developing. Other than that is optimizing the feature of Nintendo Switch, so people can play it with ease.
PS4B: Are you currently working on another game? Anything you can share with us?
Yes, right now we are working on an artistic Point & Click / Visual Novel / Adventure game called She and the Light Bearer. You can find out more about the game right here http://www.togeproductions.com/project/she/ and https://store.steampowered.com/app/658590/She_and_the_Light_Bearer/
PS4B: And no it’s time for us to go. Would you like to add anything else before we go?
Hope you enjoy our games!
