You know we’re definitely fond of the PlayStation Vita, Sony’s portable console which has been on life support for the last year or so. So when we heard someone was running a Kickstarter for a book on the PS Vita and its first year on the market, we got in touch with Sandeep Rai to talk a bit more about it.
PS4Blog: Hi! Thank you for joining us this morning at PS4Blog.net. Could you please introduce yourself to our readers?
Sure, My name is Sandeep Rai, also known as 2 Old 4 Gaming on Youtube and Twitter. I’ve been a fan of the Vita since the day it was revealed, and my love of the device inspired me to start my YouTube channel where I review and talk about Vita games and also to write my book which we are talking about today.
PS4B: You’re hard at work on a Kickstarter campaign for a book on the PlayStation Vita. What can you tell us about this project?
The book is called “PS Vita – Year One.” In it, I look back at the events of the Vita’s launch and its first year on the market and how those events defined the rest of its life. I will also be including detailed retrospectives on some of the games that had the biggest impact (both positive and negative) on the Vita.
PS4B: The campaign is doing great so far, so I was wondering if you are considering any stretch goals for the project once it goes over its main funding goal.
Amazingly, the Kickstarter was funded in around 7 hours! I knew I wasn’t alone in loving my Vita, but it was so encouraging to see it being so well supported by the Vita community. My first stretch goal is to include an additional retrospective in the book. As I am working on this alone and I’m not some big business, I can’t promise lots of rewards like postcards and posters, so the stretch goals will be around adding content to the book. I will be adding some additional stretch goals very soon so stay tuned!
PS4B: Since the book focuses on the first year of the PS Vita, are you considering turning the project into a series that goes through each year of the Vita’s life?
That is something I would love to do. I’m focusing on the first year for this book as so much happened and I want to give enough space to cover the events and to look at the games from that period. If the book does well in terms of sales and fan’s reception, then i would love to go on and make it a series covering each year of the Vita’s life.
PS4B: And now it is time for us to go. Would you like to add anything else before we end this one?
Firstly, thank you PS4Blog.net for giving me the chance to talk about the book. The support from the Vita community has been amazing, and now I want to make sure I deliver a book that is worthy of people’s confidence in me.
