We’re currently playing Blossom Tales: The Sleeping King for our review, so we got in touch with FDG Entertainment to talk about the game’s development for the Nintendo Switch.
PS4Blog: Morning! Thank you for joining us today for this interview. Could you please get us started by introducing yourself to our readers and letting them know a bit about your work?
Philipp: Hi. I’m Philipp, one of the founders of FDG Entertainment and the Executive Producer. Along with overlooking the games we produce, I’m there to give feedback and advice, as well as helping out wherever help is needed.
Joannis: Hi thanks for having us! I am Joannis, Blossom Tales’ project manager on the publisher side. I was working closely with Castle Pixel on game design and coordinated the day to day development.
PS4B: On that note, we’re here to talk about Blossom Tales: The Sleeping King, a game that FDG Entertainment is launching as a Nintendo Switch console exclusive. What can you tell us about this game?
Joannis: Blossom Tales is a 2D game in classic Action-adventure fashion, settled in a fantasy world, the Kingdom of Blossom. You are experiencing the story as a tale passed down from a grandfather to his grandchildren. As Lily, Knight of the Rose, it is on you to save the kingdom.
PS4B: The game had a crowdfunding run on Kickstarter but failed to reach its goal. What motivated you to pick up the game as the publisher to fund its development? What made this one special?
Philipp: We saw a true gem in the game back then when we saw it on Kickstarter. We contacted Castle Pixel, and we quickly agreed to work together. Blossom Tales had this special vibe in the very beginning, and it immediately clicked with us.
PS4B: Along with Blossom Tales: The Sleeping King, you’re also preparing some other PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch releases for 2018 and beyond. What can you share about some of these games?
Philipp: Yes, we are, but we can’t talk about that yet. There’ll be a couple of cool games coming in 2018, first and foremost Monster Boy and the Cursed Kingdom, which most of you probably already know about.

PS4B: And now it is time for us to go. Once again, thank you for taking the time to do this interview. Would you like to add anything else before we end this?
Philipp: I massively appreciate all the support and love we get from people and gamers all around the planet. There’s nothing more rewarding that the tons of positive feedback after spending months and years working on a game.
Joannis: Happy Holidays everyone!
