[PS4Blog.net Interview] Pocketwatch Games On Tooth And Tail | PS4Blog.net
We’re playing the very fun RTS Tooth and Tail for our review, so we got in touch with Pocketwatch Game to talk about the game’s development for Sony’s home console.
PS4Blog: Welcome to PS4Blog.net. Good to have you with us. Could you get us started by introducing yourself to our readers and letting them know a bit about yourself and your work?
Hi! I’m Andy Schatz, I’m the Creative Director at Pocketwatch Games, creators of Tooth and Tail.
PS4B: You’re hard at work on Tooth and Tail for a PlayStation 4 release. How would you describe this game?
Tooth and Tail is a “distilled” Real-Time Strategy game (RTS) that is built to be played on a gamepad. Matches are short, and the gameplay rewards creativity and improvisation over perfect reflexes or practiced build orders. Set in a world of animal revolution, the armies of Tooth and Tail are fighting over who gets to eat and who has to be dinner.
PS4B: How long has the team been working on the game? Have there been any challenges you’ve had to overcome since you’re working on an RTS with a focus on offering a solid console gameplay experience?
We’ve been working on it for three and a half years now! The first couple of years we were building the technology and experimenting with the controls and gameplay until we could find the perfect balance that makes the game feel like it was envisioned for the gamepad from the start. Since then, we’ve added split screen in addition to online competitive play, a ranked ladder, and an extensive Story Mode.
PS4B: Due to the game’s nature, are you considering working on DLC for Tooth and Tail to be made available either for free or at an additional cost?
We are definitely going to be supporting Tooth and Tail post launch. Our first planned (free) feature is PS4 to PC crossplay so that PlayStation players can play with our Steam and GOG players!
PS4B: And now it is time for us to go. Would you like to add anything else?
I’m super excited for everyone to play the game, it’s truly unique. Can’t wait to see everyone on the battlefield!
