[PS4Blog.net Interview] EXOR Studios On X-Morph: Defense

by EdEN, Owner

We’re currently playing X-Morph: Defense for review so we got in touch with EXOR Studios to talk about the game’s development for Sony’s PlayStation 4.

PS4Blog: Welcome to PS4Blog! Could you please tell our readers a bit about yourself and your work?

Hello, PS4Blog! My name is Paweł Lekki, and I’m a producer and designer at EXOR Studios. I’ve been responsible for
designing and implementing many gameplay aspects of X-Morph: Defense as well as keeping the project on its tracks.

PS4B: X-Morph: Defense is out this week on PlayStation 4. How would you describe the game to someone who has never heard of it?

It’s a unique blend of a twin-stick shooter and a tower defense game in which you can either blow up your enemies by yourself or strategically plan defenses that will do that for you. You play as an Alien that is invading Earth, and your goal is to take over the entire planet. The environment is completely destructible. You can collapse buildings, blow up bridges or burn large forests. Plus there are skyscraper sized bosses. And you can play in split screen co-op!

PS4B: How long did it take to get the game ready for release? How long > did it take the team to bring the game from concept to life?

The original concept was born in 2010. However, full production began in early 2013.

X-Morph: Defense 2

PS4B: For those who will be playing the game on a PlayStation 4 Pro, what can they expect for enhancements?

Solid 60 FPS in split screen co-op.

PS4B: Since the game is done, are you considering working on either free or paid DLC for X-Morph: Defense?

Yes. We’d like to create additional mini campaigns with new boos fights. However, that depends on how players respond to the game!

X-Morph: Defense 3

PS4B: And now it is time for us to go. Would you like to add anything else?

We’ve really enjoyed making this game, and one of our primary goals was to make the entire environment destructible and interactive. I think that you will be happy with the level of gameplay freedom that this provides.
