Episode three of a six part episodic game series set in the world of HBO’s groundbreaking TV show.
Based on the award-winning HBO television drama series, Game of Thrones: A Telltale Games Series tells the story of House Forrester. Caught up in the events of The War of the Five Kings, they are placed in a precarious position where members of the household must do everything they can to prevent the house from meeting its doom.
Some cast members of the television series will reprise their roles in the game. While players will control five members of House Forrester in their story, the series will have them interacting with fan favorite characters throughout the season, including Tyrion Lannister performed by Peter Dinklage, Cersei Lannister performed by Lena Headey, Margaery Tyrell performed by Natalie Dormer, and Ramsay Snow performed by Iwan Rheon. Additional cast members will appear in later episodes.
The latest episode in Season 1 of the Game of Thrones video game starts with players taking control of Asher who is escaping from a group of vicious killers after the events at the end of Episode 2. Asher must decide who to trust in order to make it back home in one piece, especially since he and his small group will be running into a particularly vicious foe that stands between them and the potential army that can help him save his family.
At King’s Landing, Mira finds herself feeling the first repercussions from the decisions that players made during Iron from Ice, making her realizing she has now made some new enemies during her tenure as handmaiden to Lady Margaery, especially now that she is to be married to King Geoffrey in a few days. Will she manage to win the crown’s favor and secure the money her family needs to pay the sellsword they’re aiming to hire?
And then, we turn to Gared, who is still stuck at the wall. He is definitely committed to his new role and ends up reciting his vows, thus becoming a member of the brotherhood at the wall. But when a visitor arrives to see him, will he decide to help his family or his new brothers? Will he also be able to hide his anger and thirst from revenge after the man who killed his family shows up at the wall as one of his new “brothers”?
The Sword in the Darkness is an excellent episode, and just like it happened for Episode 1 and or Episode 2, the cliffhanger for Episode 3 will make the wait for the next chapter in this episodic series even harder on everyone due to the magnitude of the various situations still left unresolved.
