[Review Revisited] Tales from the Borderlands
Being a vault hunter is never easy – death and dismemberment never seem to be far behind! Can you help a group of con artists to find and loot one of THE greatest vaults ever? Then come read about Tales from the Borderlands!
I was a big fan of Telltale Games’ early work, from the Sam & Max reboots to Strong Bad’s Cool Game For Attractive People – and even Back to the Future! Somewhere along the way after they changed their adventure game approach thanks to their take on The Walking Dead franchise, I stopped playing their releases for a bit. During the Christmas break, I managed to grab Tales From the Borderlands, and man, am I glad I did!
Since I had no proper experience with the actual Borderland games, I wasn’t sure how I’d feel about this game and if I would connect with it. Luckily, this it’s a great gateway into the actual universe explaining everything you need to know. You will quickly fall in love with the cast of characters as they are quick witted and funny, charming and very interesting.
The game is split into five episodes, and each one takes a few hours to complete. Overall you’re looking at 10-12 hours for finishing all five episodes. While it took me just under a year to play all of the The Walking Dead, since it’s source material didn’t really click with me, I flew through all five episodes for Tales from the Borderlands in only two days. The writing was so good and funny that I just couldn’t wait to see what was going to happen next!
Everything was great in each episode: the graphics, the writing, the choices, the characters, and even the music! Do yourself a favor and pick up Tales from the Borderlands today and give it a try. It is a must-have and one of the best adventure releases from Telltale Games.
