PS+ Update for August- PS4 Edition

PS+ Update for August- PS4 Edition

For August we are getting three free games on PS+ instead of the normal two! Were getting a cool space game, a puzzle game that will be great for friends and family, and a retro style shooter. Come check them out below!

PlayStation Plus Free PS4 Games Lineup August 2016

Tricky Towers Regular Price: $?; Free for PS Plus members

Tricky Towers takes the familiar mechanic of placing tetromino bricks and provides a twist with the addition of real world physics and a competitive multiplayer focus. The goal is to build a tower higher, faster and better than your opponents. This is made more difficult by gravity’s constant pull, the seemingly gentle breeze and the devilish dark magic attacks from the other players. There are some light magic spells provided to help you out – but casting a light spell will cancel out your chance to cast a dark spell for a while so you need to choose carefully between supporting your own tower or messing with the towers of your opponents. There are three different multiplayer modes. Race is all about beating the other players to a soaring finish line; Survival involves placing a certain number of bricks before everyone else without dropping too many and losing your health; and Puzzle slows down the pace a little by challenging players to place as many bricks as possible below a cutoff point. The shortness of the matches and the pick-up-and-play nature of Tricky Towers make it perfect for parties. Next to local and online multiplayer Tricky Towers contains 50 single player trials where players can hone their skills and crack some tough puzzles, and an endless leaderboard mode to see how long players can survive against the elements.

Rebel Galaxy Regular Price: $19.99; Free for PS Plus members

Rebel Galaxy is a swashbuckling space adventure, with action-packed combat, exploration, discovery, trade, and “negotiation” with the outlandish denizens at the edge of the known universe.

As the commander of an immensely powerful star destroyer, you’ll battle pirates, explore anomalies, befriend aliens, scavenge battle wreckage, mine asteroids, and discover artifacts. Choose your path as a roguish do-gooder, crafty space-trader or power-hungry privateer – or maybe a little of each! Buy larger and more powerful craft with your hard-earned credits, and outfit them with a variety of wicked weapons and defenses. Set in a galaxy of fantastic sights, and secrets to be found, Rebel Galaxy is above all a space epic of adventure, exploration, and combat.

The edge of the universe is a pretty dangerous place, so watch your back.

Ultratron Regular Price: $9.99; Free for PS Plus members

Experience the addictive gameplay of old-school arcade favorites, updated for the 21st century, with unique upgrades, player responsive difficulty, and a subtle system of tactics combined with classic gameplay.

Ultratron is a twin-stick arena shooter inspired by some of the best classics arcade gaming has to offer, updated and improved for the 21st century.

The last human in the universe has been slain by evil killer robots. As the last remaining humanoid battle droid, you’ll be fighting through over 40 arcade levels to finally take on the four giant boss ‘bots of the apocalypse.

An arcade game on steroids, Ultratron combines risk-reward arena gameplay with an upgrade system, responsive difficulty, pet drones, special weapon abilities, and online leaderboards. (Two player drop-in co-op mode on the PS3™ system and PS4™ system)

As always, for PS+ users who don’t have a PS4 yet, be sure to log in at the PSN Webstore to get the games added to your collection so that you can download them once you do get one.

Also, don’t forget that with the PS4 3.0 Firmware update that came out, there is a fancy new PS+ Icon to help you find the PS+ games to download for the month as well as any sales for PS+ subscribers!

This month’s games are a bit weaker than what we have seen in the prior months, however, it does help to make up for it by having three games this month. Tricky towers looks like it could be fun with friends, Rebel Galaxy looks fun and has been spoken well of critically, finally Ultratron is a fun throwback to older games gone by. What are you looking forward to this month? What would you like to see in September?
