Star Wars Pinball: Star Wars Rebels Launch Trailer | PS4, PS3, PS Vita

Zen Studios has released another new licensed Pinball table for their Star Wars table line, this time based on the Star Wars Rebels from the Disney XD Chanel. As much as I have enjoyed the original Star Wars movies (Not Prequels) I have not partaken in the cartoon itself but I have heard positive things about it. Therefore, I was definitely looking forward to giving this one a go.

Once again, Zen Studios outdid themselves with the layout of the table. With every different license, they are able to create unique worlds and this one is no exception. You have the show’s main characters and villain on the board, and you interact with them quite frequently thanks to the missions on the board. There’s a large ship in the left-hand quarter of the table that you can interact with as well. At some points, it will fly off, and there is a mini-table hidden underneath where you can rack up a ton of points. There is also a cool bounce back feature that sends the ball back with a slingshot-style weapon, which is what the main character uses.

The missions included for this pinball table range from fending off tie fighters to fighting the main villain in the game. They were all unique and fairly easy to unlock, but it felt more skillful to get them going this time. One of the other things I liked was there was a way to graffiti the side wall. Depending on the painted graffiti, you can actually get bonuses during play, including score multipliers that would boost your score through the roof.

They did a good job capturing the feel of the show, which isn’t surprising as it’s a computer-animated TV show. All the characters looked like they do on the show, and the audio from was ripped right from the TV show as, truly immersing you in the Star Wars Rebels universe. If there were one flaw to call, it would be that the voice acting repeated itself way too often, which got kind of annoying. Not a huge issue or a deal breaker, but something to note.

I liked the table even though I haven’t had a lot of exposure to the show it is based on. It was well constructed, with fun missions making you feel that you were making actual progress through the game. If you enjoy Star Wars as a whole or the Rebels show, this is an easy recommendation. If you’re not familiar with them, you are still getting a well-constructed pinball table to play.
